“Sunday lunch - 1st birthday party”

I attended a Sunday lunch first birthday. Food was beautiful and service was great. We had a lovely afternoon. Would recommend for similar functions.

Had a brilliant couple of nights stay here. Have stayed here a number of times over a good many years but not recently. Had a brilliant couple of nights stay here. Have stayed here a number of times over a good many years but not recently. I was concerned after reading some reviews and understand the place does need a face lift. It's such a pity that the last previous owners had not managed to maintain the standards of the earlier owners, but no doubt covid had a part to play there. All the staff were very pleasant, professional & attentive. We were there to celebrate our wedding anniversary & we were upgraded to a beautiful, spacious room. All rooms are named after trees, ours was the Lilac with the most gorgeous wet room & views over the gardens & currently used as the bridal suite. A bridal fair was being held over the weekend & rooms were dressed beautifully both for the ceremony & wedding breakfast. The new owners have great plans for this place & you can see the impact this has had on the staff. Breakfast in both the breakfast room & the conservatory was calm & relaxed. A reasonable amount of choice but think this maybe needs to be extended in the future. Quality & quantity of food served for our breakfast was good & well presented. Lady waiting table was organised & worked hard to deal with the number at breakfast on her own. We ate in the hotel on one night, again menu limited but reasonable choice. Not sure if it's just me but do expect to be offered a bread at the onset of dinner, but not here. Food was tasty, mains portions on the small side, but well presented. Think that the menu will be being revised in the future once staffing requirements in the kitchens are sorted, think only one chef on. All in all an excellent stay, new owners only had the place nine weeks, would like to revisit & see the changes perhaps in the autumn, that's if we can afford it.

Room was spotless and I genuinely couldn’t fault it. The breakfast, though, was painfully slow — expect to wait at least an hour. I wouldn’t recommend the full English: the sausages were undercooked, there were no beans or even tomato sauce, and the whole meal arrived cold. The toast turned up abo… lisää

The toast turned up about 10 minutes before the rest of it.

Impressive initial setting. Usual young inexperienced staff why do placers do this. So pot of tea only two small cups in it not filled to brim had to ask three times to be filled.
