We booked a one night stay at The Wheatley Arms as we were attending a family birthday in their private dining area during the day (all very good). The hotel kindly accommodated an early checkin request so we could quickly freshen up ahead of the lunch. We stayed in Room 5 which (whilst compact) was clean, newly decorated with a large window and well equipped bathroom (bath and excellent rainfall shower over). The fridge in the room would be useful for longer stays and there was quite a-bit of storage space with a built in wardrobe, there was a dressing table and miraculously a plug close to a mirror so you could dry your hair whilst looking in the mirror (a basic so often missed in hotels). The bed was comfortable and it had a decent smart TV. Surprisingly for the price point there were also bathrobes and slippers. Plenty of free onsite parking. An excellent value stay in what appears to be a newly refurbished hotel.

“We had a lovley visit”

We have been here a few times I'm writing this review for my wife . The meal we both had were extremely good . The service was exceptionally good .

What a lovely stay, family gathered here to stay. The staff were amazing offering us a private room for the 11 of us to dine and helping us with a slightly earlier breakfast time. “Some small touches would make a difference”

Really great to see this place refurbished. The rooms are tastefully decorated and very comfortable. We've stayed here a few times in the past (our wedding reception in 2017) and have many happy memories. A couple of things would make a difference to the experience and make the stay worth the money… lisää

Really great to see this place refurbished. The rooms are tastefully decorated and very comfortable. We've stayed here a few times in the past (our wedding reception in 2017) and have many happy memories. A couple of things would make a difference to the experience and make the stay worth the money (£150+ a night with breakfast). The breakfast is very much a "self serve" of cereals and yogurt etc but felt like a budget hotel experience, with serve yourself filter coffee and boxed kelloggs cereals. I think having someone offer and serve hot drinks would make a difference. I ordered toast from the menu both days and would have expected this to be included in the self serve buffet. The toast was standard supermarket sliced bread which was disappointing. I expected homemade bread or if it needed to be bought in, something better like thickly sliced bloomer or sourdough toast. It certainly didn't match the price tag of the stay.
