“Weekend away”

The location was excellent the room's were clean and tidy the restaurant was excellent even though we only had breakfast.

We had a 3 night stay in a quiet room towards the back of the hotel. Good breakfast with excellent cheerful service provided by the woman in charge of allocating tables and taking payment. Cleanliness generally good, but a bit more attention around the edges of the rooms would improve things.

We stayed on a Sunday and Monday night to attend a local wedding at Warwick House. We struggled to find this hotel on the lower Parade (just past the Pump Rooms on the left next door to the small COOP shop) having driven past several times. When we arrived the entrance was very tatty and uninviting but please don't be put off as the rooms are really nice. We had a very comfortable stay. Our arrival was lovely and unexpectedly the mature lady really made us feel welcome and even helped my wife up the stairs with the cases. Our room was large and situated overlooking to a rear Antrim which was lovely and quiet. Our friends had rooms overlooking the road with lovely bright windows and nicely shaped rooms with character. Breakfast was in the steak restaurant next door which was completely self service and fairly average not the best Premier Inn breakfast we have ever had. The hotel has virtually no ground floor area other than two lifts, the reception desk and a vending machine, the bar and food outlet is next door in the steak restaurant. Parking was down the road about five minutes walk at £12 for 24 hours but secure and with a lift. We found that it was much easier to use rather than street park with the worry of being booked by the over Zealous Traffic Wardens of which there are many, who seemed to come out of the woodwork. Be careful when you arrive park outside to unload making sure that one of you stay with the car ready to move.

Not the best welcome because I received a telephone call from the hotel reception before checking in to be told ( not asked ) I was being moved to the Premier Inn at at Warwick. Not the best welcome because I received a telephone call from the hotel reception before checking in to be told ( not asked ) I was being moved to the Premier Inn at at Warwick. I refused and was told that someone else would be found. It was only when I complained that I found the reason for this request. The welcome at check in was poor , I assume because the staff were still heavily involved in juggling the rooms. The balcony outside room 129 was in a disgraceful state. The canopy was badly damaged and there was a child’s toy and teabags on the damaged floor. On the positive side the rooms were very comfortable and clean, and the restaurant was excellent. The quality of the food and service was first class, and Harry was an absolute star in the way he looked after us at dinner. Overall,I was disappointed, as I mainly use Premier Inns when travelling and I was left with a very unfavourable opinion of this one, especially given the relatively expensive cost of the accommodation.
