“Good cheap stay”

Two Citysuites next door so confusing if your using booking.com etc it doesn’t say one or 2. Otherwise Good location, comfy enough, decent rooms fairly tidy, good breakfast

I stayed here for business 3 nights. My studio room was very well-presented with a nice bathroom and shower. However, while I do love a very firm mattress, the bed felt like it was just a box spring or wooden plank. The duvet was very thin. I asked for a second duvet and the receptionist embarrassingly pulled out a price list. They actually wanted to charge me to rent a second one. It felt like a scam. Even Travelodge, etc., would give you a second one for no charge. While the heating in the room worked, the thermostat was inaccurate. I had it cranked up to 29 to make it feel 21/22. The pool and jacuzzi area is really nice, but could do with a separate male/female changing room. There are 2 lifts in the property. One was out-of-service the whole time with no obvious plan to repair it. The operating one was very slow and temperamental. The breakfast is unfortunately located in another building meaning you may need a jacket to get there and could have to walk through a bit of rain. The food was nice, but it was a la carte, which is really not convenient for business travellers who want to grab something quick before heading to work. Saying that- the service was fast. However, they were stingy abuut continental items and a bit inflexible about substitutions. On the third day they would not allow me to drink my diet pepsi that I brought with me (first and second day- no problem with that). Would have preferred a buffet set-up. Overall, this is not a bad place to stay. The location is good and it is mostly well-presented. However, it is NOT five star as the booking app I used has it listed as.

“Disappointing Food Service and Poor Experience from Start to Finish”

Really disappointing experience at Embankment Kitchen. Despite booking a table in advance, we were left waiting far too long. When we arrived, several staff members were clearly present but nobody acknowledged us or even said, “we’ll be with you shortly.” We were simply left standing there wondering what was going on. Service throughout was extremely slow and disorganised. There appeared to be very little communication between staff, which showed in the lack of coordination and attention. When we tried to raise concerns, the response felt dismissive and at times argumentative, rather than solution focused. The overall attitude came across as not particularly bothered about the customer experience. To make matters worse, a teenager in our group was served what looked like a small children’s portion, which was frustrating given the prices being charged. Overall, poor service, long waits despite booking, lack of attention, and an unwelcoming atmosphere. Unfortunately, not somewhere we would return to.

“Lovely place, noisy but great location.”

We stayed for one night on a Friday. The accommodation was spotless, the location was excellent - a 5 minute walk from the AO Arena and the rest of the city. We stayed for one night on a Friday. The accommodation was spotless, the location was excellent - a 5 minute walk from the AO Arena and the rest of the city. The reception staff were friendly on check in, it was quick and efficient. The parking is near the accommodation and is £18 per night which I feel is reasonable. The concierge met us at the parking barrier to let us out which was a lovely personal touch. The pool area was lovely - there were no staff checking these areas meaning some children were running riot in the steam room and hot tub areas which were signposted not to be for children. This I feel is quite dangerous really. The bathroom was lovely, shower had good water pressure and a choice of overhead or normal. There are bottles of shampoo, hand wash and body wash available. There are teas and coffees available - the coffee is a cheap version of nespresso pods which don’t say which colour is which so I ended up having none as I couldn’t be sure if there were decaf ones. The rest of the kitchen was great, very functional and everything you’d need. The tv had a good selection of channels too. There were a few sticking points that I feel need to mentioned. The rooms are very noisy, the fridge/freezer makes a popping and cracking sound all night. The noise from outside is also quite poor - especially the train tracks which run right behind the hotel. I ended up pulling off sofa cushions and sleeping in the bathroom to get away from the noise - comfier than it sounds. It would definitely be a place to bring earplugs. The second issue is that nowhere does it say that breakfast is £24.99 per person when booking on the app. For two of us at nearly £50 this was too much and half the price of the accommodation! I feel this is a little on the steep side and there are lots of places nearby that offer breakfasts at a lower cost. Overall I would stay again but with the request to be away from the train tracks and the fridge/freezer turned off.
