Stayed two nights, what a great find. We regularly stay in Newbury, but never thought of staying here. Always thought it was out of our price range. But got a great deal for two nights in Summer House number one. The hotel is set in the grounds of a 18 hole golf course. Magnificent drive up to the hotel, but watch out for golfers! Reception easy to find and hassle free check in. The hotel has a stately home feel about it. Free WiFi and parking. Our room has it dedicated parking space. The room was divine, and large. Well equipped, with extra bedding. Lovely wet room with large shower. Plenty of towels and complimentary soaps. The light in the bathroom was on a motion detection, and took ages to turn off. As did the extractor fan, so we turned it off at the main switch. The bar and restaurant are on the lower level of the main complex. I am sure there is a lift available. Modest sized bar. On both our visits no Asahi beer on tap. We never ate on the first night . Drinks reasonably priced. Breakfast excellent. Attended on by ' Stanley Tucci'. Excellent array of food. Only fried eggs on display, not sure if you order scrambled or poached. Lovely selection of continental breakfast. Tables and chairs excellent. On the second night we ate in the bar. Caitlin on duty. Wow she worked hard, whizzing around. Oscar her little helper. Burgers very reasonable and filled us up. Excellent skills all round. All staff we met were very friendly. Especially the room attendant. Will definitely return.

“Three day trip with friends”

We thought we had come to the wrong place when we arrived as it is so amazing an entrance and drive! Very nice rooms in a detached lodge (room 11) but we can see drawbacks to that if it’s raining😉 Excellent food for breakfast and evening meals (although the dessert choice was limited). We thought we had come to the wrong place when we arrived as it is so amazing an entrance and drive! Very nice rooms in a detached lodge (room 11) but we can see drawbacks to that if it’s raining😉 Excellent food for breakfast and evening meals (although the dessert choice was limited). A special mention must be made for Hussine who was friendly, attentive and flexible and made our experience all the better. Perhaps a bit of time and money needs spending on the exterior woodwork and paintwork of the bar and restaurant Beau’s. Overall really excellent - relaxing and peaceful.

We celebrated my son's 21st birthday At Donnington Grove. There were 24 of us in total ranging in age from 3 months to 80 years old and all had a great, fun weekend. The Events Manager, Gemma, was incredibly helpful and accommodating throughout the planning process. The staff on duty were all very helpful. Donnington Grove is a beautiful place to spend a weekend.

“Great Experience”

Our group of 7 (usually 8) retired teachers spent 3 nights together at Donnington Grove in early March. We were at college 60 years ago and reunite twice a year for a few nights of fun and laughter! Our group of 7 (usually 8) retired teachers spent 3 nights together at Donnington Grove in early March. We were at college 60 years ago and reunite twice a year for a few nights of fun and laughter! Between us we have, plenty of age related, physical needs and all of these, from the initial booking to our time at the hotel, were listened to, and responded to with understanding and a smile. The staff; front desk, restaurant staff and the excellent chef, cleaners, grounds maintenance and support staff, were, without exception, superb. Nothing was too much trouble for them and we thank you all. The grounds are beautiful and are a pleasure to explore. There is a golf course on site and, during the day, the bar buzzes with golfers, enjoying a drink, good food, and a chat. The rooms are comfortable but, if you're in rooms 107 and 108, note that these two are hot, as they're over the kitchen, and noisy because of early morning deliveries! The hotel itself is comfortable but the carpets and decor are 'tired', although this didn't detract from our enjoyment of our time there! The hotel advertises spa facilities. These are on site but the hotel does not have an on-site pool, although there is an arrangement for access to a nearby pool. Our group agreed we'd had one of our best reunions in 30 years at the Donnington Grove Hotel and Country Club. Taking everything into account, the outstanding factor was the quality of the staff and the ability of the chef. Thank you all, we'll definitely see you in the autumn!
