“What! Where were the cornflakes at breakfast?”

We haven’t stayed in a hotel as quirky as St Giles Hotel for a very long time. The bedrooms are off numerous staircases with little signage of how to find Reception or the way out! We haven’t stayed in a hotel as quirky as St Giles Hotel for a very long time. The bedrooms are off numerous staircases with little signage of how to find Reception or the way out! The car park situated at the back of the hotel was a nightmare to find despite having lived near Norwich for years. The bedrooms are very comfortable and the cooked breakfast very acceptable despite what appeared to be a lack of staff.

“Lovely stay in the "junior suite"”

Location was decent, very close to the market and plenty of food and drink options. About 20 minute walk from the station. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Location was decent, very close to the market and plenty of food and drink options. About 20 minute walk from the station. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Tea & coffee amenities were in the room, albeit basic for the room type, but they were replenished each day. The hot chocolate was fairtrade, but the tea & coffee wasn't. The bed moved and hit the wall with the slightest movement, which was a bit annoying during the night when just turning over or moving an arm. Could do with just some felt pads adding to mute the noise & damage to the wall! The bath was large and beautiful, and the shower had really good pressure, though the shower curtain was a bit annoying as there wasn't loads of space with it closed. There wasn't a safe or fridge in the room that we noticed. The room itself was nicely decorated and very spacious, with lots of furniture options. Overall would stay again, it was clean & comfy, & the breakfast was really tasty! It's a lovely building too. The restaurant/breakfast/bar area has been nicely refurbished since the red decor shown in TripAdvisor photos

“Friendly, interesting, happy.”

We stayed three nights and slept very well, which at our age is quite rare. The interior is, as they claim, a mixture of Edwardian and Deco and has nice spaces for hanging around. We stayed three nights and slept very well, which at our age is quite rare. The interior is, as they claim, a mixture of Edwardian and Deco and has nice spaces for hanging around. The staff were friendly and seemed happy. Service was excellent. Breakfasts were cooked to order and one of us had te best GF breakfast they have ever been offered (photo provided). In spite of the fact that we are an elderly couple we were treated as if starry-eyed lovers - which we are. Towel art (picture provided) was exceptional. We would definitely stay there again if visiting Norwich again. We were intriguetd by the Irish themed dinner menu but were dining with friends elsewhere so sadly had to to miss out on that. Maybe next time.

The one way system caused us a bit of a problem in locating car park .So beware. The one way system caused us a bit of a problem in locating car park .So beware. My wife popped in for directions but woman on phone.Directions on paper given to me when I visited reception for second time. We had been here before and so can compare.Room alright if underwhelming. We opted for Georgian room but lights spoiled atmosphere.Modern divan bed not well done . Details matter. Didn't like spotlights and non opening windows(probably unavoidable as ground floor).Good bathroom with marble tiles . At breakfast told no porridge but given was previously available asked again next day and told it was.Told that as we were leaving. Buffet breakfast not very attractive.One Weetabix on small table. Those who wanted cooked had all the attention.We finally got staff attention but did not enjoy cold coffee brought to table. So mediocre is our considered view The architecture and position cannot be bettered but the management need to try harder. If anything it appeared too many chiefs and not enough indians resulting in inattention.
