Just got back from a 2 night stay at the Gin Trap Inn with our Labrador. The place truly is dog friendly with the dog brought his own sausage for breakfast and treats on a plate for evening meal. The cottage we had was beautifully furnished and the staff were warm and friendly as well as being efficient. The breakfast and evening meals were of high quality and food was well cooked and well presented. We hope to visit again

What a fantastic pub, part of a small group this delightful pub with rooms keeps its charm and integrity. It gets 10/10 from us fo both food and hospitality. There is a beautiful fireplace as soon as you walk in through the door and big leather chairs that you just have to sit in! We were greeted by the charming and lovely Will on arrival. What a hospitable welcoming young man he is. Will has the warmest personality, he’s knowledgeable and professional. Nothing is too much trouble. We were staying as guests and were shown to our gorgeous dog friendly”cottage” behind the pub. The cottage was delightful, well equipped and immaculate. The beds were so comfortable. Everything has been thought about. We ate in the pub on our first night ( and all the rest ) and were greeted by the equally lovely, Taylor in the restaurant. She was warm, friendly, personable and very helpful, spending time to explain lots of local knowledge that helped us make our plans. Taylor and Will work so very well together, When they are on the floor / bar together you are in for a treat, it’s pretty seamless as a guest experience . The rest of the team were fantastic too, including Corrine, Lauren and Erica. We were lucky enough to meet the”returning” chefs after one of our meals, they’ve got so many plans and are so passionate about the meals they create. The oyster starter with Gin was the best ever. The food was delicious, well presented and the care gone into each dish was very obvious. It must be so hard getting a balance in such a beautiful village as Ringstead between great food for those that come from a distance, to keeping it welcome for locals. I think you do a great job, we will return. A very big thank you to all of you for looking after us and the dogs so well. The dogs say thank you for their sausages at breakfast every morning! You have an amazing team there Chestnut. We know it’s tough to retain good staff but this team are truly fab! They were perhaps the biggest part of our wonderful experience. Several staff travel well over an hour to get to work. The hospitality industry is tough but you’ve got it so right with the team at the Gin Trap. Thank you all for a lovely stay

“A wonderful pub!”

Have just returned from a stay with my family. (Children are 4 and 8 months old) We stayed in one of the cottages and it was exceptional! Everything you could need for a family (or group of friends staying!) the beds in both rooms were large king size and really comfy (I believe they can also be made up as twins too). Added touches like a complimentary g&t voucher and premium toiletries really was a lovely treat. The cottage had two beautiful outside areas, a balcony upstairs and a terrace downstairs overlooking the beautiful fields. Sitting out there with a gin & tonic whilst the sun went down was really quite special. We had dinner in the restaurant quite early because we have young children but even then there was a great atmosphere. The staff were really attentive and the food was delicious. Breakfast was really lovely- table service instead of buffet makes it feel like you're really being treated and everything was piping hot and came very quickly. I can't wait to return!

“Disappointing  stay”

I purchased a weekend package for my Partner & her twin sister as a birthday present. the package included Dinner, Bed & breakfast for 2 nights, this was done so the only additional cost for them would be any drinks purchased. Their view of the room was that it was "OK" but decoration was a bit tir… lisää

I purchased a weekend package for my Partner & her twin sister as a birthday present. the package included Dinner, Bed & breakfast for 2 nights, this was done so the only additional cost for them would be any drinks purchased. Their view of the room was that it was "OK" but decoration was a bit tired and was a Disappointing  as its is supposed to be a 4*hotel, however the food was good. On checking out they were surprised to receive a bill for "an additional service charge" and that unknown to us there was a spend limit on dinner of £30. This was a big surprise and these were not highlighted to me at the time of booking. I have since contacted the hotel with 2 emails (as no-one answered the phone when I called) to raise this matter with them, but they have not responded.
