Arrived for a one night stay, and we weren’t expecting much, but the hotel actually impressed us! Cheryl on reception was lovely, warm, friendly and very helpful. The hotel was clean, warm and smelled lovely and fresh, from the entrance hall to the bedrooms. The room was a small double and was well priced, so we didn’t expect a sea view - but we had one! The room was spotlessly clean, it had a desk and chair, plus a small table and two chairs in a bay window, the bedding and immaculate and comfortable and the curtains were thick and kept the light out. The breakfast was good and the dining room was lovely. It was quiet and we slept well. A decent Chinese restaurant is a ten minute walk away, and there’s a good pub with real ales and ciders less than five minutes away. There were plenty of plug sockets in the room and one even had two USB sockets, which is really handy if you’re short on charging plugs! Overall this hotel surpassed our expectations and we would happily stay there again!

“Very good hotel”

We stayed at the Clifton after having a shocking time at the grand hotel. The staff at the Clifton are amazing very helpful and friendly. especially Liz on reception. We stayed at the Clifton after having a shocking time at the grand hotel. The staff at the Clifton are amazing very helpful and friendly. especially Liz on reception. She made sure we were well looked after and she is very good at her job. The stay was good, the breakfast was very nice and we especially liked the bar and food. The room was very comfortable. our only gripe was no ventilation in the bathroom.

“Trip back to 1970s but quite nice”

Its a trip back to the 1970s, there are not many hotels like this left now, hotel tidy but it was spotless, clean, warm & comfortable. Staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. Its a trip back to the 1970s, there are not many hotels like this left now, hotel tidy but it was spotless, clean, warm & comfortable. Staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was poor, shame false economy youd have got 5 stars as the staff deserve it but obviously restricted to what the hotel supplies for them to work with. All in all lovely visit, just dont bother with breakfast We will miss places like this wjen they are no longer here

“Cold and small room the one receptionist needs retraining”

Nice hotel walked across the road to see a wonderful view My dog lost her collar it was handed in to reception as I was informed I asked the lady on reception she was short with short hair she was glued to her computer and didn’t even bother to look the collar was under the counter found by another… lisää

Nice hotel walked across the road to see a wonderful view My dog lost her collar it was handed in to reception as I was informed I asked the lady on reception she was short with short hair she was glued to her computer and didn’t even bother to look the collar was under the counter found by another member of staff I also mention how cold it was in my room she didn’t even bother to tell me there was a heater in the wardrobe this woman needs re- training not very commutative was very dissapointed The room was very small and I could not see out of the windows Dissapointed for the amount I had to pay The barman was very helpful The breakfast was good
