I can highly recommend this hotel, we only stayed one night as we were going to a concert at a close by theatre, it’s a great place , we loved our stay The staff are super friendly, nothing is too much trouble for them, the rooms are modern, bright and spotlessly clean , breakfast was amazing , something for everyone’s taste, there wasn’t a great selection of meals on the evening menu , ie scampi, burgers etc but it was perfect for us as we were going out , it was good quality and adequate for what we needed , pizza is available all the time We often go the theatre close by and would always stay at this hotel now , in fact I’ve just booked again for April 😊

“Great hotel but extra parking charge seems cheeky.”

Good hotel but expensive for what it is. At over £100 for one nights stay we did not expect to also have to pay a parking charge on top. Good hotel but expensive for what it is. At over £100 for one nights stay we did not expect to also have to pay a parking charge on top. Room was clean and tidy, bed was comfortable, we had plenty of towels, shower gel, toilet roll etc. The lock on the bathroom door did not work at all, luckily it was myself and my husband so it don’t really matter but it is a basic need and expected in a hotel room. All staff we encountered were super friendly and knowledgeable and very helpful.

“Major design fault on bathroom door and rooms are like saunas!”

Second visit in the last 5 months. Reception bright, modern and welcoming. Staff friendly the majority of the time. The buffet breakfast is very nice and a good selection for just about everyone. The room was clean but not that clean, a few areas could be improved, such as cleaning of less visible areas!!! Toilet roll was also rationed, no use when staying for a few nights, we ended up buying our own! The bed was extremely hard and uncomfortable and I can’t see why the beds are not king size, as the rooms could cope with a decent sized bed. The rooms are like saunas, the air conditioning does not work effectively and you can’t open a window as they are designed in a way to have no ventilation whatsoever. There is no way we could stay here in the height of summer as it is really a glasshouse, it would be unbearable! The biggest issue is that on both our visits the bathroom door is also the wardrobe door and it shuts and locks from the inside, which means you have to get maintenance to break into the bathroom. Last year when it happened, it literally took 5 hours to get the bathroom door opened as the maintenance man had taken a tool home on his day off, he was called in eventually to save the day. The same thing happened again on our most recent visit after a lengthy journey from Scotland and the night porter had to break into our bathroom at 1 am in the morning, much to the detriment of other guests on the same floor. He did a grand job of sorting out our issue but the staff said it happens all the time. Not much use when your personal belongings and medication are in the inside of the bathroom! Hampton by Hilton there is quite clearly a design fault with the locking system of the bathroom door! This is twice it has happened to us in different rooms on different floors, please sort this out before something serious happens! Thank you to the team who sorted out our issue but get it fixed or we won’t be back, which is a shame as the town doesn’t have much other alternatives on offer. Overall a pleasant enough stay but room for improvements most certainly!

“Xmas shopping stay”

Stayed for one night in November, after doing some Xmas shopping at the local retail park. The staff were welcoming on arrival, the hotel looks great. Our room was compact but very clean. Stayed for one night in November, after doing some Xmas shopping at the local retail park. The staff were welcoming on arrival, the hotel looks great. Our room was compact but very clean. The hotel is let down by its rock hard beds (we like a girl bed but this was akin to sleeping on the floor) and it’s incredibly soft pillows. While I accept that this is all personal preference, I don’t expect to be able to feel and hear the springs of the mattress through the night. I did call reception to ask if they had any other pillows and the gentleman who answered said no but sympathised, even saying he found them to be way too soft. We woke grumpy and therefore disappointed heading to breakfast, which was a good spread but the hot options were cooked to a crisp.
