voco Telford - Ironbridge by IHG Date of stay: 25 May 2026 Room: 254 – Suite Upgrade As a loyal IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) guest for over 20 years — historically staying around 70–100 nights per year, and now around 30–40 nights per year post-Covid — I feel I know the brand well. This stay at voco Telford - Ironbridge by IHG was an excellent example of what a really good IHG hotel stay should feel like: warm, welcoming, comfortable, well run and with some very much appreciated loyalty recognition. It was my 19th IHG stay of 2026, and I was delighted to receive my second room upgrade of the year — this time to a suite — which was genuinely welcome and made the stay feel that bit more special. Arrival & Check-In • The hotel was easy to find using sat nav and postcode, making for a smooth and straightforward arrival. • The location is very convenient for Telford and the surrounding Ironbridge area, whether staying for business or leisure. • Parking was simple and straightforward, with the added bonus that the car park is free, which is always a big plus and very much appreciated. • Check-in was warm, professional and efficient, with the team making a very good first impression. • As an IHG One Rewards Platinum member, I was warmly acknowledged, which was appreciated. • Even better, I was upgraded to a suite, which was a genuinely lovely surprise and only my second upgrade after 19 IHG stays this year. • The upgrade made a real difference to the stay and was a very welcome recognition of loyalty. Room & Cleanliness • Room 254 was excellent and the suite upgrade was very much appreciated. • The room was spacious, comfortable, clean and well presented throughout. • Fixtures, fittings and linens were fresh, tidy and in very good condition. • The suite gave the stay a more relaxed and premium feel, with plenty of space to unwind properly. • Housekeeping standards were very good, and the room felt well maintained and cared for. Dining • The food was absolutely fantastic and was one of the real highlights of the stay. • The evening meal was excellent, both in terms of presentation and quality. See attached photos. • Everything felt freshly prepared, well cooked and served to a very good standard. • This was not just “good hotel food”; it was genuinely enjoyable and added a lot to the overall experience. • Breakfast was also very good, offering a strong selection and setting the day up properly. • Overall, the food and dining experience were fully in line with what I would hope for from a strong IHG hotel, and in this case possibly even better. Check-Out • Check-out was smooth, friendly and efficient. • The team remained professional and welcoming throughout the stay, right through to departure. Overall This was an excellent stay at voco Telford - Ironbridge by IHG and one of my strongest IHG stays of the year so far. The free car parking was a very welcome bonus, the suite upgrade was genuinely appreciated, and the food was absolutely fantastic. As my 19th IHG stay of 2026, receiving only my second upgrade of the year made this visit stand out even more positively. The hotel delivered everything I would hope for: a warm welcome, a clean and comfortable room, good loyalty recognition, excellent food and a smooth overall experience. I would absolutely stay here again. Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ — 5/5

“A wonderful stay at voco Telford”

My partner and I stayed just two days after the hotel had re-branded as a voco and wow - what a beautiful hotel! Staff on check in were very friendly and helpful making sure we had all the information we needed. We stayed in a suite, I think it was room 254 which was absolutely stunning, spotlessly… lisää

Staff on check in were very friendly and helpful making sure we had all the information we needed. We stayed in a suite, I think it was room 254 which was absolutely stunning, spotlessly clean, and beautifully decorated. We also had dinner at the restaurant, which was delicious, the staff took care to check through options available for my partner who has a nut allergy, they were very attentive and helpful. We couldn't have asked for a better stay and would highly recommend!

“The most comfortable bed ever”

Another great stay at this hotel. It’s been over 3 years since I stayed here for business and I was back for leisure this time. The hotel is undergoing a little refresh so you may find painters working or other workmen and noise, but all work noise stopped by 6pm. Our double room was spacious enough for two. The bed was ridiculously comfortable. So good in fact I’ve just ordered the bed topper used our bed. The room temp was spot on. The bath had an over bath shower, my advice for that is choose a much lower water temp than you’d usually have and test from the bath tap, as the temp does fluctuate when you’re in the shower. The shower was powerful, which made a lovely change. Our room was nice and quiet, the only disturbance was other bedroom doors slamming. Use the handle and close the door softly behind you rather than letting is slam closed, those sleeping will thank you. Sadly on our second night a group of feral children were left on their own and the night manager had to intervene more than once after they were running between group rooms and running up and down corridors at silly o’clock in the morning. Shameful behaviour from their parents for leaving them alone but the hotels hands were tied given the children were minors. There were a lot of tired people at breakfast this morning thanks to that wedding group (which wasn’t being held in the hotel). We ate in the Olive restaurant for breakfast and dinner. There’s lots of choice for breakfast and a great menu for dinner. The garlic mushrooms for a starter were immense! We didn’t use the pool as with it being Easter weekend the hotel was full of families and adult only swims were limited so the pool was full until almost 7pm both nights. Overall a great stay, feral children to one side, and I’d happily stay again!

“Nice Revamp”

Never stayed here when it was a Holiday Inn, but since it's refurb it's very nice. IHG staff as always very friendly and helpful. My room was really nice, very comfy bed and nice bathroom, (although there was a bulb out - rm 210!!). It was quiet overnight and I really enjoyed my night. Only used th… lisää

Never stayed here when it was a Holiday Inn, but since it's refurb it's very nice. IHG staff as always very friendly and helpful. My room was really nice, very comfy bed and nice bathroom, (although there was a bulb out - rm 210!!). It was quiet overnight and I really enjoyed my night. Only used the bar for a drink as I wandered up to one of the many nearby restaurants at Southwater. I do have one teeny complaint - the doors to the rooms don't half make a loud bang when you leave them to close on their own!! Otherwise all very nice. Breakfast was good too - plenty of choice and nice and fresh unlike at some hotel buffets.
