We had an amazing stay at Glencree. The room was spacious and beautifully decorated with charming antique touches. The location is perfect, with easy access to Windermere Station and Bowness-on-Windermere. The breakfast was outstanding—the best English breakfast we have ever had. Ian was a wonderful host who took great care of us throughout our stay. We highly recommend Glencree and would happily stay there again.

“First class guest house would highly recommend”

Good hotel with excellent host and fantastic breakfast. Just one issue was a rather excited smoke alarm but that was not the host fault really

Tea and Coffee and toiletries are allocated and are of great quality. Ian the owner is extremely welcoming and a great host Breakfast is great value and served in a lovely dining room with a smile 😊 We had a great stay and I’m sure it will not be long before we are back Well recommended

We stayed in the King Suite, which is a lovely, spacious room overlooking the stream. The guest house has been decorated beautifully, with a real luxury feel throughout, and the location is excellent for exploring Windermere. The owner was very welcoming and personable, and any initial issues we had with the room were dealt with promptly. Breakfast was delicious, and the owner made sure we had plenty to eat and were well looked after. One small point to note was that the paper breakfast menu in the room didn’t quite match the options shown on the Samsung tablet used to book breakfast, which caused a little confusion. There were a few practical things in the room that could be improved. The fridge advertised as being in the room wasn’t switched on and unfortunately wasn’t clean inside. Once plugged in, it didn’t get cold, meaning we had to dispose of some food we had planned to keep. We also found the lack of accessible plug sockets near the bed a little inconvenient. The available sockets were grouped together on the opposite side of the room via an extension lead, which also had to accommodate the tablet, fridge and kettle. The extension lead was positioned on what appeared to be the iron trouser press, which didn’t feel like the most practical arrangement. As there were no nearby mirrors, I was glad I had brought my own, as otherwise using hair styling equipment would have been difficult. The bathroom itself is lovely and features a high-tech toilet with bidet functions, which the owner explained was a very expensive addition. Personally, I would have preferred investment in more practical guest comforts, such as improved electrics and additional sockets. A little more attention to dusting in some of the less obvious areas of the room would also help maintain the overall luxury feel. That said, these are relatively small adjustments, and we genuinely enjoyed our stay. The owner is a great host, the location is fantastic, and with a few practical improvements the King Suite could be an exceptional room. We would happily recommend Glencree.
