“Views to die for and so peaceful”

We have just stayed at the Lakeside hotel and spa, South Lakes and it was fantastic. “Perfect from the moment we arrived to when we left.”

We have just returned from a 2 night stay at Lakeside Hotel, I booked this as a treat for my husbands retirement and we were blown away on arrival to be upgraded to a lodge adjacent to the hotel which was stunning! We have just returned from a 2 night stay at Lakeside Hotel, I booked this as a treat for my husbands retirement and we were blown away on arrival to be upgraded to a lodge adjacent to the hotel which was stunning! Service from the moment we arrived to the time we left was excellent. We enjoyed the spa, cream tea and we ate in the restaurant and the brasserie and food was delicious. We couldn’t fault a thing! We will definitely be be returning. Thank you for making this such a wonderful special weekend away xx

“Almost perfect.”

Arrived here last Thursday for a 4 night stay to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary & received a warm welcome from Davinia on reception who checked us in, answered our questions, ensured we had a parking permit & arranged for our cases to be taken to our suite. Also, a shout out to Pip on reception who had initially booked the stay for us & kept in touch by email in the interim & a lovely young blonde waitress who's name I'm unsure of but whose smile & bubbly welcome to both the Lakeside restaurant on Thursday & the Brasserie on Friday we won't forget in a hurry...thank you both. Wow, what a suite! So much space with a separate lounge area & proper settee & armchair like you'd have at home & just as comfortable, as was the superking bed with a deep & firm nattress & good pillows with extra cushions too. A much better than average hospitality tray with pretty mugs, good quality tea, coffee, hot chocolate & biscuits plus a Nespresso type pod machine for those who like them. Oh...& a mini fridge too & complimentary water both of which are a real plus for me personally. Plenty of lighting options & radiators & three big sash windows to look out on a fabulous three-way view over the lake & gardens below. We didn't try the pool or spa in the end, we were far too busy out & about, but we used the Muddy Duck both afternoon & evening & the lounge bar area was also good with excellent service by the friendly bar staff. The food was good & well presented but in my opinion, & it is ONLY an opinion/observation, the restaurant service, particularly in the main Lakeside Restaurant, was not as we would have hoped for. It felt chaotic & disorganised with a lot of staff who were friendly & pleasant & 'busy buzzing about' but seemingly not taking ownership of meal & drink orders resulting in long waits &, in our case, incorrect drinks being served after a very long wait & a cooked breakfast not arriving at all. We continued to eat breakfast each day but just continental after the missed cooked breakfast & we gave up dining in the evening after the second night where we ate in the Brasserie. This was marginally better but as we only had one course each & the drinks were still served incorrectly we called it a day. With the intent of offering constructive criticism, from personal experience of restaurant work, I would suggest that servers are allocated a reasonable number of tables each & for them to take ownership of these, introducing themselves & taking (& listening carefully to) the orders, ensuring the orders reach the diners in good time (where necessary chasing them to the table), checking that their diners are happy with their meal & if not then acting promptly on any discrepancy. Finally presenting the bill themselves when asked for it but not before as this can make diners feel rushed. This way the diners know who is serving them & who to tip at the end of their meal or, if residents, then perhaps at the end of their stay. It also helps when resident diners are seated at the same table wherever possible but I realise this cannot always been done & as such diners may have more than one server throughout their stay but at least they know who they are & can reward accordingly too. These comments regarding dining aside, we've had a really lovely stay & I would definitely recommend this hotel overall for general customer service, comfort & its beautiful location.
