Room was clean and roomy with all essentials you could need. I used a voucher for payment but would stay again and be happy to pay full price. The bar area was quirky and fresh, loved it! The food was fabulous 10 out of 10

“Amazing stay”

Absolutely amazing stay from start to finish . The staff are amazing , the house is stunning and the food is incredible . A very memorable stay . We actually felt privileged to have been able to stay at such a unique hotel .

I was surprised with a lovely 4 day getaway to the Lake District for my birthday by my partner and had the absolute pleasure of staying at Lindeth Howe throughout. Only a few small complaints and niggles to mention but overall, an absolutely wonderful experience. The location is far enough away from the town that it's so incredibly peaceful but not so far that it's difficult to get to by car. The garden was a true highlight of our visit, it's breathtakingly beautiful and so well maintained, massive props to whoever works to maintain them! The hotel decor is definitely more on the quirky side, I don't think it would be to everyone's taste, but I honestly adored it. The carpet in the lounge area was a particular favourite of mine, as well as the wall decor made from books etc. Myself and my partner enjoyed the evening down there on most nights of our stay, the two chairs in front of the fire was our absolutely favourite spot - so incredibly peaceful and cozy. On arrival, we were met by a wonderfully polite and friendly gentleman (who's name I believe was Andy although I might be wrong!) who was more than happy to answer any questions we had and give us a very warm welcome. We stayed in Room 119, which was a lovely room but the beds were a bit uncomfortable and felt a bit worn, however, this is obviously down to personal preference. The only other downside to our room was that it was opposite the laundry facilities and above the kitchen - we're unsure exactly where it came from, but there was a somewhat loud droning noise that could be heard on and off throughout the evening which was slightly off putting but didn't disturb our sleep in any way. Asides from that though, the room was lovely, so cozy and very clean. The bathroom was well maintained and spacious and came with a shower over a bath, along with shower gels etc. We cannot comment on the restaurant food as we didn't eat in there, but we did make use of the bar and had some small plates of food in the lounge area, the halloumi fries were absolutely delightful, however a bit pricey. The drinks were lovely also, but again a bit on the pricey side. However, the customer service level in the bar/lounge was a bit of a drop from the friendly and chatty reception staff. I would also like to note that myself and my partner didn't think about the building not having a lift when booking (we haven't stayed away since I began needing my mobility aid so we honestly didn't think about checking prior, oops!) We messaged on Booking.com to ask about this and found there wasn't one, but, whoever replied did offer to reschedule our stay, no questions asked, to allow us to have a ground floor room - we didn't take them up on the offer and instead opted to tackle the stairs up to the 1st floor, but I thought it was a lovely touch that they offered to do this for us, it really shows the genuine care and consideration they have for their guests. However, for anyone who does have mobility issues, please keep this in mind before booking and don't make the same mistake we did, as I did definitely struggle with these (again, totally our fault!) Overall, I would truly recommend Lindeth Howe to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway in the Lake District and we would definitely stay again (just perhaps on the ground floor next time!)
