Excellent location and rooms clean and tidy. In particular Lottie was very helpful providing information on where to go and what to see in York which enhanced our stay.

We loved staying here , Central location nearby to everything, great for me as my mobility isn't great, room was ready when we arrived, never quite seen a bed so low to the floor which was a bit problematic at times, but the comfortable mattress made up for it, asked a girl who was hoovering in the corridor if we could have more pillows, she said I'll have to ask my manager, bearing in mind our room was right next to the storage cupboard, never materialised, thankfully Zu came to our assistance & sorted it straight away & also thankyou to the Asian guy who worked in storage who very kindly sorted my requests everyday, appreciated your kindness, Melissa on reception sat and helped me with directions for things I had booked what a lovely member of staff, breakfast, felt like there could be more choice of eggs, not a great fan of scrambled eggs every morning, bit of a free for all at breakfast, mixed up signs infront of the juices, bit chaotic at times, room was spacious as was the bathroom with complimentary toiletries, please put more towels in the room I had to ask everyday for enough towels for 2 people,

“A fine hotel”

“Nice stay but some negatives”

This hotel is lovely, but unfortunately has some major flaws which let it down, hence the average scoring. I’ll start with the negatives and end with the positives. This hotel is lovely, but unfortunately has some major flaws which let it down, hence the average scoring. I’ll start with the negatives and end with the positives. First up, there is NO on site parking. This wouldn’t be an issue if it was not advertised as having parking. We booked through Booking.com and lists parking as one of the amenities. But this was far from the case. And clearly a common issue as when I queried at reception, they had maps ready to show the nearest car parks! We found a nearby 24 hour car park which cost a further £16 per day on top of the £300 it had already cost to stay 2 nights. Next on the list of negatives. There is construction work over the road. And the builders start at 6:30am! One of my pictures shows the view from my room. Again, had we have been told in advance, I would have known what to expect. But there was no pre warning from the hotel and the noise was constant from 6:30am. The breakfast is average at best. But what I found strange was the set up. There is no restaurant for breakfast. Breakfast is served at reception. So you are eating your breakfast at the reception area! There are not many tables either so you have to wait around for a space to become free. It’s really quite disorganised and the food is nothing special. Onto the positives. The hotel itself is lovely. Very clean, modern and looked lovely with the Christmas decorations. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms are also lovely. Spacious, bright, well decorated and very clean. There’s complimentary toiletries such as body wash, hand wash, body lotion, shampoo and conditioner, and they smell beautiful. The location is in the city centre. So you are just a 2 minute walk from all the centre activities. So a perfect location if you want to be near the centre. (However, there is a lot of construction work in the area which does close some nearby footpaths.) Overall, it was a pleasant stay, but not somewhere I’ll be returning to I’m afraid.
