I was in Room 24 overlooking the harbour. So relaxing. It is in a really central location and I had no problem parking my car outside. Thank you to all the staff at Royal Hotel for making me feel so comfortable and welcome

Lovely overnight stay while visiting Isle of Lewis. This is a wonderful in-town hotel situated on the main drag in downtown Stornaway. The front staff went above and beyond to secure two rooms for my family of 4. Hotels are tough to come by in-town and we were initially on the waitlist. Back-and-forth e-mails were quickly answered as they kept me posted of room availability. Just days before our trip the front staff called me directly in the States confirming a room following an unexpected cancellation. This personal service reflects the kind hospitality of the hotel staff. Yes, the rooms and beds are simple. But for my family the hotel provided everything we needed for our short stay on Lewis while visiting the Standing Stones of Calendish and subsequent ferry to Ullapool. The first floor on-site restaurant was the highlight of our stay. The food is simply fabulous. Very "gastro pub" atmosphere. Great seating with views to the harbor to watch the coming and goings of Stornaway. Book your table here when making your reservations since the high quality food is well known to the locals and the restaurant is bustling. Parking out front overnight is free and easy. Quick drive to the harbor if catching the ferry to Ullapool. Hope to visit again and will definitely stay here if we can snag a room. Thanks to all the staff at The Royal Hotel who made our visit memorable.

“An excellent hotel in Stornaway”

We had a great stay, the hotel was welcoming, lovely staff, very good food, well maintained and very clean. We really enjoyed ourselves, although a very busy hotel, staff always had time for you. Our only disappointment was the packed lunch we had in place of breakfast due to the early ferry. Good … lisää

We had a great stay, the hotel was welcoming, lovely staff, very good food, well maintained and very clean. We really enjoyed ourselves, although a very busy hotel, staff always had time for you. Our only disappointment was the packed lunch we had in place of breakfast due to the early ferry. Good amount of fruit, biscuits and a dink of water. The sandwich was awful. 1 slice of ceap ham, a scrapping of spread no salad or cheese as requested. Who ever made the sandwich needs training. It was a shame as the food at the hotel especially sea food was excellent.

Great view of the castle, spacious room and bathroom. Accommodating staff. Clean and comfortable room. Sparkling and still water provided. Easy access to/from room and back parking. Close to ferry, which we took at 7am the following day. Small parking lot was full, but found street parking just out… lisää

Close to ferry, which we took at 7am the following day. Small parking lot was full, but found street parking just outside of the lot. We checked to make sure we would not get towed or ticketed parking on the street. Easy to make a dinner reservation online (even the night before) - excellent meal! See my separate review for the restaurant. Price is a little high, but was one of the few available close to the early morning ferry.
