What a fabulous stay. From first arrival, the welcome was warm and friendly, and the team couldn't seem to do enough. A lovely comfortable room, with a super comfy bed, an awesome shower, and it was all immaculate. Dinner, at late notice was superb, a very tasty curry, with Jasmine rice. Super tasty and a real depth of flavour. Again, the team serving were brilliant. A common theme!! A good night's sleep ensued, followed by a long hot shower to wash away the sleep. Breakfast. Be warned. It's huge. Really suitable for those off to wander the wilds this place is set in. Hearty doesn't cover it. All freshly cooked, and I'd be surprised if its not locally sourced. Fabulous. Returning later that day, proved how comfortable the place was. Warm welcome, like coming home, then a few hours before dinne, which passed too quickly, it was warm, quiet and comfortable in my room, that's my excuse anyway. Dinner was a chicken and lamb shish, which awesome. Really awesome. Another friendly team of staff, they are lovely. Another good night's sleep, and another amazing breakfast. The lady who deals with the breakfast was tireless, and always super friendly and so helpful. A wonderful stay, in a lovely location, with excellent food, and peerless service. I cannot recommend this place enough. I will definitely have this place on the top of my list, if and when I need to stay in this area again. My final note, the management or owners of this venue are so luck. They have an amazing team, that are peerless. You should be incredibly proud of them, the j9b they do, and the wonderful place you have created. Bravo

“Great service recovery”

I was really looking forward to my visit to The Forest as I hadn’t been for about 5 years. I went with my wife and ordered the garlic pizza to start which was just what it said in the tin. I was really looking forward to my visit to The Forest as I hadn’t been for about 5 years. I went with my wife and ordered the garlic pizza to start which was just what it said in the tin. For my main course I ordered the burger which was advertised as steak and bone marrow in a brioche bun with fries. The burger arrived and to say that I was underwhelmed would be a fair assessment. The burger was dry and tough and wasn’t pleasant at all. My wife ordered the crispy beef which to be fair was delicious. The waitress collected my plate and after I explained my issues she apologised and removed it from the bill which was great service recovery. Later in the night there was live music which was a nice touch even if it was really loud.

Went along on a Thursday evening with colleagues for a leaving do, all the food had been pre ordered as there was fourtoof us. Went along on a Thursday evening with colleagues for a leaving do, all the food had been pre ordered as there was fourtoof us. The place is well set out a large well stocked bar, plenty of tables and a generous outdoor area. At the bar I had a fifteen minute wait as there was only one person serving and twice barrels needed changing , at least when I got it , it was worth the wait a delightful IPA . The meal was something of the same only longer, let’s remember this was pre-ordered so they knew what they were preparing, or is preparing the wrong word because I don’t think there was much preparation went on. The food started to arrive at 7;30 , only an hour and half wait. As for the meals one of the chicken dishes was sent back as it was too dry, one of the starters was burnt and the person on the Caesar salad asked for more sauce but didn’t get any. The pizzas all seemed ok though. It seemed like a lack of staff and preparation and certainly did nothing to tempt me back apart from the beer.
