Stayed in this splendid castle (1860) for several nights. West, north west, of the island's capital (Tobermory), 5 miles and 15 / 20 minutes to drive to, near the coast. Great vista / views. Lovely friendly, helpful hosts. Opulent / historical surroundings, with a warm feel (considering the size of the place). Great walks on land / coastal, plus they have their own coffee shop / art gallery nearby too. We were treated so well and had a great experience at Glengorm Castle. We didn't want to leave. I’ve had the privilege to stay in lovely hotels all around the world, and I genuinely can’t think of one I enjoyed more than the Tower Rooms at Glengorm Castle. The rooms consist of their own apartment within the castle itself. They are cosy, stylish, comfortable, atmospheric and a really happy place to stay. The photos on the website don’t really do it justice! We loved the log fire, the turret, the views from the turret, the bath and the bedrooms, the book collection, the well-equipped kitchen, the comfy beds with good linen, the towels… the whole package really! We occasionally said hello to the owners as we came and went, and Pam who manages the property was responsive to the one call we made. Bear in mind that you maintain the property yourself, so be ready to make beds, stay tidy and make your own breakfast. Our only regret was staying just three nights: there’s so much to do in the vicinity that we didn’t have enough time just to hang out at the castle, go for walks etc. Still that gives us a good excuse to return! Absolutely, 100%, wholeheartedly recommend it!

“What a lovely place”

Just imagine you could live in a castle. A very nice one. Take a walk to the coast, enjoy the view from the roof top and realize how lucky you are! Thank you for your hospitality

To be brutally honest we had no idea what to expect from our visit to Glengorm Castle but as you can see from the various photographs it is a stunning building in the most perfect location and we absolutely loved staying there. To be brutally honest we had no idea what to expect from our visit to Glengorm Castle but as you can see from the various photographs it is a stunning building in the most perfect location and we absolutely loved staying there. Within two hours of being there I was walking around the lawns and a Golden Eagle flew overhead and hovered for a while on the sea winds coming in over the headland. That was worth 5 stars alone! The rooms are very comfortable as was the bed and the towels are large and fluffy, just perfect. The toiletries are first class and you have everything you could possibly need within the wing itself, plus private parking of course. Which to be fair is shared a little with the ground staff but it was actually great to see them doing their thing and looking after the place. Like I said, we didn't know what to expect and I suppose having just come from an outstanding 5 star hotel surrounded by people the whole time to a 5 day self-catering stay in the West Wing of this castle venue it was , of course, completely different from being waited on hand and foot, so took a little adapting to. When we arrived there was no one around so as we were a little early we went to the nearby Glengorm Coffee Shop and had a brilliant lunch there. I would thoroughly recommend the Shepherds Pie. Also the service was great and the staff were lovely. When we went back to the castle there was still no one around except for a lady we could see through a window sitting at a computer. She clearly saw us but remained seated even though it was obvious I was wandering around like a lost sheep as I didn't know where to go. I did think that was a little odd and maybe she could have at least told us where to go. Then I remembered the lady at the coffee shop said that the West Wing was down the side of the building and had its own entrance where we should be able to let ourselves in. We went round and as we got there a lady appeared from the inside the castle to greet us and that was Pam. She was lovely and after a quick show round pretty much left us to it. She explained that the wi-fi was rubbish and to be fair, it was as I couldn't even get into it. Unfortunately, so was 4g which I could only get in one corner of the room or upstairs. So if you are looking for peace and quiet then this is the place to be. I wasn't too bothered by that as it was good to be off the grid for a while but, like most people, we did need to check in with family of course, which we did mostly away from the castle to get a better signal. That said, I can't imagine anyone booking a place like this where the main reason for staying is great TV and internet. Sadly, we didn't see Pam or anyone else for the rest of the week, it would have been nice to maybe have a chat at some point about the castle and its history rather than just read about it. That felt a bit strange but I suppose most people go there for the solitude and want to be left alone. To be fair, Pam did say if you need us just shout, so I guess coming off the back of being pampered in a hotel spoilt us and we may not have noticed this quite so much if we'd done it the other way round. Either way, it didn't detract from a brilliant stay in a brilliant venue and location. So if you want to pretend to be a Laird for a few days (driving up to the castle is a real thrill) then I would wholeheartedly recommend Glengorm Castle. I don't know when, but I would love to go back sometime. Thank you.
