The Black Bull at Nateby is a fabulous small traditional dog-friendly pub with clean and comfortable accomodation and great food all at reasonable prices. Gemma has a friendly and welcoming team of staff and nothing is too much trouble for them. The location in the centre of the village is quiet and peaceful and out back there is a lovely beer garden with views over the surrounding countryside. There are plenty of options for walkers from major hill walks to local pathways into nearby Kirkby Stephen. We've stayed there several times and we're already booked to go again !

“Buttertubs”

We booked just before going over the pass at buttertubs visiting Aisgarth falls . Arrived back and had the most beautiful meal, the Garlic mushrooms were the best both my wife have ever had. My wife had the steak and Guinness pie and I had the chicken breast in streaky bacon stuffed with black pudd… lisää

We booked just before going over the pass at buttertubs visiting Aisgarth falls . Arrived back and had the most beautiful meal, the Garlic mushrooms were the best both my wife have ever had. My wife had the steak and Guinness pie and I had the chicken breast in streaky bacon stuffed with black pudding both were amazing. The staff were excellent and made us feel at home and to put the icing on the cake pets are allowed and catered for. All in all superb 👌

Fantastic hotel with fantastic owners who saved our New Year break away after our original booking at a nearby hotel went very very wrong Cannot fault this place, rooms are spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated with everythingyou could need. “Lovely accommodation and pub.”

Booked a couple of days break away at the Black Bull just before Christmas. We stopped in a double en-suite room which was really comfortable and the price was very reasonable. This is in a great location, it’s a quiet village next to Kirkby Stephen and there’s loads of walking around there. We… lisää

Booked a couple of days break away at the Black Bull just before Christmas. We stopped in a double en-suite room which was really comfortable and the price was very reasonable. This is in a great location, it’s a quiet village next to Kirkby Stephen and there’s loads of walking around there. We ate in the Black Bull one evening and the food was top notch and plenty of choices. I had Salmon with vegetables which was delicious and was beautifully presented. The staff were first class and service was great. We talked about it on the way back and loved our stay there. We’re really looking forward to visiting again in the future.
