Invited back to stay in the Whole Hog, following a refurb of the garden area. They’ve obviously taken on board some feedback and with some great tweaks have made this the relaxing haven it needed to be. A new covered pergola with new loungers, new lighting which creates a beautiful ambiance and a lovely array of plants and flowers strategically placed (you can smell them from the hot tub). The room itself was as stunning as the last visit. We are in the restaurant and the food we ordered was stunning. Cooked to perfection, full of flavour and plenty time between courses to enjoy each others company. Phoebe was brilliant and very attentive during both evening meal and breakfast service. She’s a credit to the company. All in all a very chilled stay, which I would wholeheartedly recommend.

Great price and the belly pork is to die for :) would 100% recommend the rooms are tremendous and the staff are so helpful

Elliot made my experience at the pig one of a kind. Crack was good, some very odd would you rather questions were answered. “Great room - vegetarian options limited”

4 nights in Room 2. Beautiful decor. Large room, bed and shower. Hot tub and patio area exclusive use for guests in this room. Clean and comfortable. The owners have thought of everything. Bath is amazing (a must to use!) Staff, on the whole, we're helpful and friendly. Only down was cleaning staff… lisää

4 nights in Room 2. Beautiful decor. Large room, bed and shower. Hot tub and patio area exclusive use for guests in this room. Clean and comfortable. The owners have thought of everything. Bath is amazing (a must to use!) Staff, on the whole, we're helpful and friendly. Only down was cleaning staff didn't clean room daily until afternoon when we had been out exploring in morning and just wanted to enjoy hot tub in afternoon but ended up having to sit in bar until room was cleaned. Restaurant food was great on the whole. But some unusual vegetarian options. For example risotto (which was perfectly cooked) but spoilt with chef putting grated lemon rind on top of it! Not a favourite of mine. Pizzas good. Wine list great. But we opted to go to another couple of restaurants in village (pickled parson - curry night lovely food and Julia and Sophia's italian - great food) for a couple of nights so we could find vegetarian options. Shame as if the vegetarian options were different we would have happily eaten in restaurant. Hotel near to great places like Beamish Museum, Whitby, Saltburn and race course. Village is beautiful and has some lovely coffee shops.
