Lovely building and situation. Old world style. Clean although our room 201 had a mouldy smell as maybe at the start of season. New owner in play and was welcoming. Would I stay again? Also dog friendly but not allowed in restaurant or breakfast area which is fair enough… separate lounge available - overall dog welcoming and thank you

Only stayed here for one night This hotel has plenty of character, with a quite imposing hallway and reception gallery. It looks and feels a little dated but I understand the how hard it is to run a business in today's world The staff were very helpful and explained everything upon checking in. The room I had was comfortable and the heating was working The room had the usual increments tea coffee etc. We booked a meal in the quint dining room and the menu was small but good choices. We ,our party of four enjoyed our various meals along with my starter of spring rolls which was superb All finished off with a lo Ely apple and ice cream crumble. As we were leaving very early and would not be about for breakfast the hotel made us up a packed breakfast to take with us. This consisted of a sandwich of our choice an apple, a canned drink, a bag of crisps and finally a fruit bar. It was great. The staff were all very courteous and if I am in the area again I would certainly stay here.

“Comfortable country style”

We had a few days at this hotel recently when visiting the area. It’s a lovely country house style in the middle of Forres. The hotel has the feel and atmosphere of a country house hotel. We had a few days at this hotel recently when visiting the area. It’s a lovely country house style in the middle of Forres. The hotel has the feel and atmosphere of a country house hotel. We were given a very warm welcome e from the manager/owner. Our superior double was large with a seating area. The en-suite appeared to have been updated quite recently which was good. The room itself did give the feel of a hotel stuck in the 1980’s and the decor and furniture was a bit dated and tired and could do with a freshen up. There was a good array of offerings for breakfast including the full cooked Scottish breakfast including haggis. We didn’t eat dinner in the dining room but did have a drink and the bar area was quite comfortable to sit and relax. The WiFi worked well. We had stayed here many years ago and we would certainly have no worries about future visits to the Ramnee.

The room we were allocated was very dated with chipped brown furniture and in need of a make over. When we complained we were given a better room that had been upgraded more recently. Cost per night £170 . Breakfast was pretty basic, but ok. We ate out in the evening as told that the chef was ill and dinner menu very limited. Forres is a lovely town with a good selection of shops etc and an ideal base to explore the surrounding beaches and countryside.
