The food is also outstanding, with a great selection to choose from. Finally the staff are exceptional being attentive without being intrusive, and taking a genuine interest in the guests. They have an excellent knowledge of the building and its history, the grounds and the surrounding area. They are genuinely enthusiastic about their work

We visited on Friday and had another wonderful experience at Llangoed Hall. The beautiful weather made it the perfect opportunity to explore the gardens, which looked magnificent in the sun. A special mention must go to Ellen and Abbey, who make a fantastic leadership team. They are efficient, friendly, supportive of each other, and clearly dedicated to providing a great guest experience. Ellen is such a character! Bubbly, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable. She kindly took us on a tour of the property, sharing the history and helping us appreciate even more of what makes Llangoed Hall so special. We had met Abbey on previous visits, but it was great to see her in a more guest-facing role. She was friendly, professional, and a real asset to the hotel. We would also like to thank Abbey for her excellent service at lunch. In many hotels, recommendations can sometimes feel forced, but Abbey’s approach was relaxed and genuine. What started as a plan for sandwiches quickly evolved into a Welsh rarebit, an ox cheek burger with fries, multiple glasses of wine, and coffee in the lounge afterwards. The final flourish came from Ellen, whose enthusiasm for the dessert menu proved impossible to resist, leaving us with two excellent desserts as well. At no point did it feel like upselling, just friendly, knowledgeable service and great recommendations. With Ellen and Abbey helping to lead the team, we can’t wait to return.

We recently stayed at Llangoed Hall and had an enjoyable visit overall, although it didn’t quite live up to the luxury experience we remembered from previous stays. A special mention must go to the staff who really made a difference. Especially Ellen, Sam and Abbie during breakfast. There are, however, a few areas that could be improved. Reception was often unattended, and we had to ring the bell several times before someone came to assist us. The food was acceptable but lacked the quality expected from a hotel of this calibre. At breakfast, the baked beans were overcooked and mushy, and the buffet selection felt disappointing, with items such as Babybels and chocolate muffins seeming out of place for what should be a luxury country house hotel. Overall, we had a pleasant stay thanks to the wonderful staff, but the hotel no longer feels as luxurious or refined as it once did. With a few improvements to service consistency and food quality, it could easily return to the high standard it’s known for.
