Of course we enjoyed all the temples in Paestum. They were so amazing. However what made our experience so special and memorable in Paestum is Ciro. 100% recommendations! “Outstanding hotel, wonderful location, spectacular sights”

We had an overnight stopover in Paestum and stayed at Tenuta Duca Marigliano - they stay was too short! The hotel was lovely; the ground picturesque, rooms spacious and well appointed, and service was excellent. Sitting in the garden drinking aperitif was delightful before in a very fine dinner in the Michelin awarded restaurant Casa Coloni - enjoyed the local produce and wine! Paestum archeological site was very close, the purpose for our visit, and provided a spectacular insight into the area’s history. We were wishing we had more time to take advantage of the wonderful accommodation and to explore more of the local sights. Highly recommended!

“Do not drive past hotel entrance and enter pedestrian zone”

The hotel is in a great location for visiting the temples. The room was nice, well air conditioned, and the garden setting is beautiful. The hotel is in a great location for visiting the temples. The room was nice, well air conditioned, and the garden setting is beautiful. However a major flaw, and the reason for my writing this review 9 months after our stay, is that it is very easy to miss the driveway to the hotel off the Via Tarvernelle. The signage is terrible, and just past the turnoff is a sign for another hotel that is easy to mistake for the Tenuta Duca Marigliano. The problem is that if you pass the turnoff, the road becomes a pedestrian zone at particular times. This will be indicated by a red light that is very easy to miss if you are distracted by searching for the correct hotel entrance. The result for me: a hefty fine, which I was informed about by mail only this past week. So be warned! Another disappointment with the hotel was its restaurant, Casa Coloni. We found it pretentious with very average food. It may now be permanently closed, so I hope the hotel will rethink its dining offering to more reflect the local cuisine.

“Great in parts, very disappointing in others”

The good things first Wonderful location - just 10 minutes walk to the ruins. Nice room, as previously said lots of interesting quirky touches. The good things first Wonderful location - just 10 minutes walk to the ruins. Nice room, as previously said lots of interesting quirky touches. The negative If you are driving there by sat nav/GPS, beware. Ours wanted us to drive down a narrow No Entry. So we parked, asked the few people we could find, but couldn’t see (or find out) how else to get to the hotel. So we drove through the no entry. At check in we were told some GPS systems haven’t been updated, there is a camera, you will get a ticket. Why not tell us in advance? I was in email correspondence with the hotel re arrival time and said I was driving from Tropea. There is nothing on the website, no map saying this is the way to come. The worst was the lady seemed amused by the prospect of us being sent a ticket and therefore a fine! The restaurant is OK, some good food, but very pretentious.
