Rooms spacious but in need of a little tlc. Breakfast was good but 8 euro extra. A good choice but on quiet days only got what they offered, so make sure you know what you want because staff didn't come and ask if you would like anything else. The room did not have hot drink facilities nor did it have a safety deposit box.

“Lovely setting but…..”

We stayed here for 3 nights last week as part of a large wedding celebration group. The setting overlooking the lake is spectacular and the grounds are lovely. We stayed here for 3 nights last week as part of a large wedding celebration group. The setting overlooking the lake is spectacular and the grounds are lovely. Our room on the top floor (4th) however left a lot to be desired. It was very shabby, with rickety old furniture, no drawer or wardrobe for clothes, old fashioned electrical points which didn’t fit our adapters (first time this has ever happened) and only a bath and handheld shower in the bathroom. Worst of all it had a very low sloping ceiling with rough-edged beams so anyone over 5 foot had to stoop when getting in and out of bed and when trying to shower in the bathtub, to avoid banging one’s head. Also access to the top floor involved 3 very steep and precarious sets of rough stairs, so totally unsuitable for anyone with mobility issues. On a positive note breakfast was very good and the waiting staff very helpful and friendly. We had one dinner there as a large group and that too was very good. One annoying thing however was that there was no service of any kind between 11-3 which makes staying there during the day less attractive. Parking is very limited, and charged at €20 per day which we thought was excessive and also a bit cheeky. Parking outside on the road is plentiful and free. All in all we probably wouldn’t stay there again - it’s very expensive for the quality of the accommodation, but I suppose the view might persuade some travellers that it’s worth it?
