“Perfect situation to explore Matera.”

Plusses; Spacious rooms, and excellent modern bathrooms; charming friendly staff; arranged our parking and access to ZTL zone very efficiently. Quiet, and the perfect situation for central Matera. Minuses; Disappointing breakfast choice, in rather a tight space too

This hotel was chosen by our food tour as the last stay of the week. Matera is lovely and vibrant town worth visiting. This hotel was chosen by our food tour as the last stay of the week. Matera is lovely and vibrant town worth visiting. Though even in April you can tell shopkeepers are getting a bit tired of tourists. Hotel is well situated and easy to explore the town. We did have to walk a couple of blocks from the drop off point to get there. I get the impression they don't have a lot of rooms-they all seem to be on the floor above the lobby. The back of the hotel has a small balcony with seating that looks over the town which is quite nice. You also have this view from the smallish breakfast room which has a pleasant, though not extensive buffet in the mornings. The options other than coffee drinks to order is going to be cold. Staff is friendly and helpful. Rooms have high ceilings and feel a bit plain and sterile to me. Doesn't feel quite luxurious. There was a threat of no water for AM showers that we only found out from out tour leader who was staying at another hotel which I confirmed with our front desk. Apparently, this can occur to preserve water pressure in the town at times. It did not actually happen, but is a risk. Finally, our room looked out over the front street which can be noisy from tourists, the morning sanitation trucks and music events in the plaza about a block away. If you want the lovely view of the town and quiet you might ask for rooms 101/108/109. It seems to me that rooms 102/107 may have partial views. Rooms 103 (ours)/104-106 likely have no worthwhile views.

“Beautiful, well located hotel with warm and knowledgeable staff.”

Fabulous location with elegant room and ambiance. Unfortunately the room, while lovely had limited space for opening luggage, drawers for clothing, organizing toiletries in the bathroom. Even to hanging up bath towels after use. Additionally, hot water for showers on short supply.
