“Great Location”

Before I Start just a couple of pointers before arriving at hotel 2nd June every year they celebrate republican day so our flight was delayed as couldn’t land at ciampino Airport until after 12pm and the roads are closed due to the parade also it’s easier to get a taxi at the Airport to the hotel it’s €40 fixed price so a lot quicker than getting the bus or train. When we arrived at the hotel we got a warm welcome and we were given a room on the 2nd floor room 211 the key is like a chess piece and made of brass but we handed this in every time we went outside the hotel. When we entered our room it was clean and bathroom was well equipped with a shower and all complimentary shampoo shower gel and hand wash and also provided towels. There is also Air con in the room. We also had a big balcony that overlooked a busy road that did get quite busy at rush hour times and police sirens every now and then, Breakfast was good restaurant seats about 40 people but get down there for around 930am it’s a-lot quieter they do eggs bacon sausages toast cold meats pastry’s, muffins cereal yogurt and fresh fruit so good selection. Outside the hotel you can turn right down the steps to some attractions if you walk out and turn left but cross the road and walk up more attractions and it kinda goes round in a big circle it’s very close to most attractions Trevi Fountain 5/7 minute walk that gets very busy, The Colosseum is a 10 minute walk book well in advance for a ticket we bought the £18 ticket and that is literally just the arena this is not really detailed in the description you need to purchase the £24 if you want to go to the upper levels otherwise it’s literally just the arena floor arrive 5 mins before your scheduled time and wear good shoes, The Spanish steps are a must see that’s about a 15 minute walk please be aware of street sellers with bracelets, bottles of water, phone chargers , single roses and umbrellas just say no thank you and walk away because as soon as you start talking to them they put stuff in your hand and they make you buy it, the hotel is in walking distance of so much and it is a lot of walking it can get very hot so fill your water bottles up at the hotel at breakfast and there is free water fountains everywhere for you to refill, Gelato is very good stay away from restaurants near landmarks more pricey back alley restaurants are reasonably priced also most restaurants when you sit down will put a basket of bread on your table and then charge you €4 on your bill we just said no thank you and they take it away you will get lost so having data and maps on your phone is a good idea just be careful when crossing roads as the have pedestrian crossings some are safe with lights others you just need to walk out on them and hope the traffic stops overall a great city break and if returned would stay at this hotel

Wonderful Hotel. Amazing ancient building and a great breakfast variety… really close to all interesting spots of Rome. Nice and friendly staff! I would recommend this place to all of my friends. Thank you!

“Amazing great location”

Lovley old hotel very clean in a wonderful location close to a lot of attractions. The only criticism is could do with blackout curtains but other than that excellent stay , staff were very attentive and helpful would definitely stay again

“Couples weekend seeing as much of Rome as possible”

An absolutely amazing location, perfect base spot for seeing as much of Rome as possible. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Many landmarks like Collisieum and Trevi fountain within a 10 minute walk. About a 30-40 min walk to the Vatican but plenty to stop and see on the way like the pantheon, … lisää

“Well located hotel in the heart of Rome”

We spent four nights at the Traiano hotel in May 2026. The staff were very welcoming and the main reception area was pleasant and accommodating . I was travelling solo with 3 couples and we had all booked double rooms. One couple were on the 2nd floor in a spacious room to the back of the hotel which was nice and quiet and plenty of room, with large windows looking into a small enclosed courtyard The other three rooms were located on the 1st floor looking out onto a busy and noisy road. The windows were all small and could open fully although that made the room very noisy. The rooms on this floor were much smaller and to be honest my room was tiny, around half the size of my friends on the 2nd floor despite paying the same price. The bathrooms were all well presented and had everything required and were very clean. There was no bar area in the hotel with the only place to meet and chat before and after going out was the main reception area where they were several comfortable couches. The Hotel could have done with an area for guests to meet and relax away from the reception area, especially as some of the rooms were so small. The breakfast area was clean and the breakfast offered was excellent with a wide choice of both hot and cold offerings. However, the main attribute of this Hotel is definitely the location. It was ideal for all of the main attractions and you could walk to the Colosseum in around 15 minutes, the Trevi fountain in around 8 minutes and the Spanish steps in round 15 minutes. We even walked to the Vatican, Castillo Sant Angelo and the river area in around 30 minutes and didn’t have to catch a taxi or public transport at any point over the four days. There are lots of great restaurants and several bars dotted around the Hotel and we could not have asked for a better location for our stay. Therefore, overall this hotel was ideal for Short stays In Rome as long as you are not looking for a large bedroom or somewhere to grab a drink and relax after a day out. We booked this as part of a package deal including flights, but it probably worked out at around £200 per room per night, regardless of whether there were one or two people in the room. This included breakfast. That did feel expensive compared to other places, but you were right in the heart of Rome so that may well be a going rate.
