“Stunning location and rustic hotel”

The villa is set on what can only be described as the most stunning location. Set on an outcrop the views are second to none! We sat on the terrace watching the sunset and the hotel manager couldn't have made us feel more welcome! Highly recommend a visit even for a fleeting drop in drink!

“Beautiful view, but haunted house atmosphere”

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights during a wedding nearby. The hotel is located on a hill that gives you a beautiful view over tuscany. We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights during a wedding nearby. The hotel is located on a hill that gives you a beautiful view over tuscany. When we arrived, the hoteldoor was closed and we had to search for 15 minutes to find someone who could check us in. I think the hotel was very popular in the past, but nowadays it felt like a haunted house. There was no music in the lobby and there were no other guests around. The rooms were spacious and clean. Unfortunately a bit cold at night. The breakfast was basic, but sufficient. Again, at the time we wanted to checkout, we had to search for the lady of the hotel. With a bit more effort they can easily get 4 stars.

We stayed at this hotel for a wedding nearby in Sep 2014. The hotel offers all of the basic accommodations one could want although its furnishings and decor could be updated and modernized. It reminded me a bit of an old Howard Johnson's. The room was very clean though. The views are nice, it was quiet, and the breakfast buffet was perfectly fine (croissants, coffee, hardboiled eggs and cheese). There's not much to say about it other than it was "just fine" for a night. It wasn't particularly memorable, but it wasn't bad either. The Korean woman who manages the property could work a little on her people skills. She is not interested AT ALL in interacting with the guests. She's very efficient and all business, but we we were barely at the hotel so it didn't really bother us.

Its not in Certaldo, its in Marcialla, a small village about 10km from Certaldo. It shouldn’t be an issue if you’re coming by car, and you are touring by car and have done a little research to find it, but if arriving by taxi and planning taxi tours it is a remote and expensive starting point. It shouldn’t be an issue if you’re coming by car, and you are touring by car and have done a little research to find it, but if arriving by taxi and planning taxi tours it is a remote and expensive starting point. And unfortunately its all a little disappointing. Not that it hasn’t got stunning far reaching views and the rooms are large, nicely furnished in the appropriate way with very high ceilings and window shutters to keep the sun out and remain cool. And is has a very nice quietly located pool. But the rest of what you’d expect is missing. No restaurant at all apart from breakfast. And that means no lunchtime snacks on the veranda with the view. And no drinks service by the pool. Nothing. Breakfast was basic and disappointing. A stunning hotel in Tuscany in a lovely old villa building gives you a breakfast choice of coffee from a selection of buttons on a vending machine. And a vending machine for the choice of two juices. No fresh cheeses or meats. Cheese was those triangles of pre packed stuff, and pre packed covered toast and cake as well. And that’s the disappointment. It has all the potential to be something really special and whilst we had a comfortable stay, because it misses the mark on serving up what you expect, it just overall leaves a felling of a lost opportunity.
