“A pocket medieval village, a fine hotel”

We hiked here from Sorano. We were the only guests for one night, then we noticed another room occupied on the second night. The room was generously sized including a small couch. Comfortable bed - decent pillows (hard to find these days). Good sized bath too. Great location for exploring the nearb… lisää

We hiked here from Sorano. We were the only guests for one night, then we noticed another room occupied on the second night. The room was generously sized including a small couch. Comfortable bed - decent pillows (hard to find these days). Good sized bath too. Great location for exploring the nearby necropolis. The Duomo at the end of the village is remarkable, with a GREAT bookstore. Breakfast buffet was quite good. Fresh fruit, pastries, cheese, smoked meats, yogurt and an egg if you wanted it. Traditional Tuscan bread has no salt. It was very off season when we visited! We had dinner 2 nights at the Taverna Etrusca. Hearty, generous cuisine from the region, very warm service. You get what you give as a traveller.

This is a very cosy hotel with very warm hospitality and good location in this very tiny village. The rooms can be a bit damp smelling and have some damp patches on the walls with the age of the building I guess. The breakfast is very goo and the staff are excellent here. This is a very cosy hotel with very warm hospitality and good location in this very tiny village. The rooms can be a bit damp smelling and have some damp patches on the walls with the age of the building I guess. The breakfast is very goo and the staff are excellent here. After a very poor meal at the Taverna Etrusca on the previous night, these lovely ladies came to our rescue and served up the most tasteful, delicious and flavoursome courses of food. I have to stress, you must eat here if you stay in this village.

Minun on sanottava, että esimies ei ole kovin erilainen kuin tavallinen (fancier-vuode), jos haluan suositella, että hintaerosta eroaisi standardihuone. Kaikki huoneet ovat yksinkertaisia, mutta klassisia, ja niissä on hyvät kylpyhuoneet. Minun mielestäni ne ovat värjättyjä, maalauksia paljon. Tuore maalikerros tekisi todella muutosta. Aamiainen oli hyvä, tuoreita croissanteja, peruslihaa ja juustoa, mehuja, viljaa ja tuoretta kahvia. Erinomainen sijainti ja hyvä pysäköinti. Suosittelemme La Tavernettan ravintolaa villisikojen pääruoka ja EehGia toista yötä varten. Emme voineet saada wifi toimimaan valitettavasti. Kaiken kaikkiaan rakasti kylää ja valitsi Scillan uudelleen, varsinkin jos huoneet olisivat tuoreita.

“Not quite as advertised - possibly our fault”

On the plus side, very clean and good bed. On the downside we thought we had booked into the main part of the Hotel which turned out to be on another road ( not far away) and might be called Albergo Scilla ( but we never worked it out) which looks nice in the pictures. On the plus side, very clean and good bed. On the downside we thought we had booked into the main part of the Hotel which turned out to be on another road ( not far away) and might be called Albergo Scilla ( but we never worked it out) which looks nice in the pictures. The room was very small and the decor shall we say limited. And was above a bar shut for the season. Which probably explained it. Sovana though is a lovely place.
