This is such a special place. The moment you step into the hotel you are surrounded by incredible history and welcomed by extremely lovely staff. The room was ultra clean, bright and welcoming. The breakfast was absolutely wonderful and I would recommend eating in their restaurant in the evening. The food was outstanding. You can relax by the pool surrounded by history or unwind in the garden which is so peaceful. Durnstein is a beautiful town but we would return for the hotel alone. Thank you to the owners and all the staff - we didn't want to leave!

“Best place to stay in the Wachau I expect”

What a beautiful place to stay, the town and the hotel. We are so glad we picked this over the Schloss after seeing both. What a beautiful place to stay, the town and the hotel. We are so glad we picked this over the Schloss after seeing both. So much character and the outdoor space is really beautiful and unique, way better than the aforementioned. We had the least expensive room type which was more than adequate with a real king bed and view of the rose garden. The staff were wonderful. The restaurant was also expensive but very good. Included breakfast was fantastic. Splurge and go here rather than the Schloss which is even more expensive and not as nice imho. We rented their bikes for the day and did a 60km loop up and down the Danube each side to Melk. Bikes were very good and only 14E for the day each. This was such a wonderful thing to do. There are options with boats and ferries to do both sides of the river shorter bikes as well.

Situated in the heart of Dürnstein, it was a perfect place to stay. The room was clean and spacious, the staff were very friendly and the dinner was unforgettable. The most surprising thing was that it was so quiet, even though the street was full of tourists. If you want to make the most of your holiday in the Wachau, it's a good idea to book a room here. The price was reasonable considering the expensive hotels in Vienna.

To start, this is an amazing stucture. To stay in an old building like this is quite a treat. The amount of artifacts, paintings, old furniture, all fabulous to see. My wife and I just walked around the building for over an hour just looking at all the antiques in the building. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, always greeting you with a smile and truly interested in making sure that your stay is going well. The hotel is right on the Danube and it was fantastic to have dinner in their little terrace area restaurant overlooking the river. The service in the restaurant was fantastic with an onsite sommelier and well trained serving staff. I did not hurt that the food was excellent as well. I was so impressed with the kitchen staff who made sure that I had an excellent meal even though I can't have any dairy in my food, they even changed how they cooked a side dish just for me. There were only a few blips that dropped this reivew from a 5 to a 4 star, that is the room. Even though I turned the radiator off our room was very hot at night and there is no AC. I did open the window but since there are no bug screens it meant that we had many little visitors when we woke up in the moning. Next, the Wacau valley is famous for white wines but yet there is no fridge in your room to keep wine cold. Finally, I realize that this is a historic building but you can switch out the plugs for ones that have USB ports with no problem and adds a lot of convenience. I have to use my conversion plug to juggle charging for 2 phones, a loptop, ear buds, etc... The highlight of the stay was the staff, these hardworking people deserve all the praise for keeping this hotel at the high level that it is, well done!
