If you want to explore this area of Burgenland and stay somewhere different this is the place. The hotel and restaurant are set in the beautiful palace gardens of Schloss Halbturn and it is very quiet and relaxing. Our room was very large and comfortable, tastefully decorated with the furniture being a mixture of old and new. The bathroom was large and very modern. We had an arrangement with half board. The food was very good but very little choice of dishes for the main course. A continental Breakfast was served, also egg dishes of your choice and home made jams. The staff were very efficient and friendly.

“Marvelous location”

The location is absolutely stunning. It’s true that the hotel is not in the main wing of the palace but the surroundings are absolutely charming. We stayed here for one night and when we arrived we decided to have dinner and take a walk in the park. The menu is short but the dishes were delicious a… lisää

The location is absolutely stunning. It’s true that the hotel is not in the main wing of the palace but the surroundings are absolutely charming. We stayed here for one night and when we arrived we decided to have dinner and take a walk in the park. The menu is short but the dishes were delicious and the staff really friendly. They also have quite a nice variety in the wine menu. The park is beautiful, really quiet and relaxing. There were just a few guests in the hotel so it felt like the entire park was just ours. The entire location is so quiet and relaxing that we regretted we didn’t spend more time there.

“Really enjoyed our stay”

We stayed for couple of nights including half board. We stayed in "grand vin" room which has two rooms and fits four. The first room has sleeping sofa, the main bedroom comfy big bed for two. Large modern bathroom with shower (no bath). There was no door between the two rooms which unfortunately me… lisää

We stayed for couple of nights including half board. We stayed in "grand vin" room which has two rooms and fits four. The first room has sleeping sofa, the main bedroom comfy big bed for two. Large modern bathroom with shower (no bath). There was no door between the two rooms which unfortunately meant we didn't get much of good sleep because of our 4yo daughter. But otherwise the bed was comfy and the nights dead quiet. The door into the toilet/bathroom is from normal glass which some people may find a bit strange:-) Breakfast was served. Some basic salami, ham and cheese. Selection of spreads and jams. Orange juice. Choice of an egg dish. For us sufficient but would get horribly boring if staying more than two nights. But dinners were great. The restaurant is really very good. We loved the dinners and the fact that they were happy to make a special kids meal eventhough our daughter was staying for free. Would be definitely happy to come back. The area is surrounded by great winemakers and places to eat.

First of all, Hotel Knappenstöckl is located in a splendid park, surrounded by vineyards and forrests. Second, as a tourist in this hotel I had a real feeling that I stay in the Habsburg family’s summer residence, more precisely in a side building... Most rooms are quite small and although the hotel is a palace , my feeling was that it would be in a monastery. This is not the first “Schloss hotel” I stay, but here I had the strongest sense of the delimitation of the owner and visitor barier. Probably many tourists are driven by curiosity to enter in private areas , but of a more delicate indicators restriction would be welcome. I had a dinner in the hotel’s restaurant. The menu is not so rich, but the food is excellent. My choice was local fish and vegetables. The wine list is extremely generous and my selection was a bottle of the house wine, a Chardonnay from 2010. The dessert is great too... Because the morning of my second day was very cold and rainy and I couldn’t make a long tour, certainly I shall come again here, but not sure as a guest of the hotel.
