There are many positive things to say about this place - it is as good it as it gets for a price of 80-100 euro per night, given its wonderful location. Relatively old, family-owned hotel that could benefit from better maintenance. There are many positive things to say about this place - it is as good it as it gets for a price of 80-100 euro per night, given its wonderful location. In the extremely expensive and posh surroundings of Tirol and Lake Achen, you just won't get a price like that, especially given its very nice indoor pool and sauna and the included (decent, yet extremelly low quality) breakfast for two. Position is just amazing - you get down from the highway and you reach it easily in 5 minites, and it lays midway to lake Achen. It is pretty central, but yet quiet and pleasant. The furniture is old but functional (there is everything you need, including a safe in each room and a spacious balcony with Alps view. I found that simply breathtaking!!! Another thing to strongly recommend is the cozy reception lobby with a fireplace, and the very well arranged restaurant. Now a bit on the downsides. As a person who worked in a hotel herself, I care a lot about good service. Jenbacherhof lacks the warm and personal approach, and you certainly can't count on helpfulness and information. Both check in and check out were quick like 'Let's get it over with', and we had to ask some basic information ourselves, as for example - where is the pool and how long is it open? - having the strange feeling of bothering their staff. Another thing I extremely mind is cleanliness- i had no expectations of a new, fancy room, but I at least wanted it to be clean (also bear in mind that we are going through a pandemic!). The room was dusty and smelly, there was hair everywhere in the bathroom, and a huge spider web at the balcony door. As if it wasn't enough - we opened the drawer to store our stuff and we found an old bag of chips that was obviously there since forever. I hope the owners will read this review, as nobody asked me how I felt when I was checking out, and nobody cared. 😊

Some things about this hotel are very good but there is also a down side. For a hotel that says it's 4-star, it's rather on the basic side. Let me give a list of (in my opinion) the pros and cons. Pros Our room (on the 2nd floor of the new building) was quiet, roomy and clean with adequate chairs and writing space and electric points. The room maid service is excellent. There is plenty of storage space in the room. The bathroom was very clean and some toiletries were supplied. The water was hot. The hotel lounge is comfortable. There is a (small) pool on the 3rd floor with water at a comfortable temperature. There are saunas (though not all were working). The breakfasts were good, with cold continental selections, cereals and fruit as well as hot scrambled egg and bacon - all available on a serve-yourself buffet. The food served at dinner was adequate (though not over-generous) and was tasty and well prepared. It was also served hot. The hotel has lifts. Cons. There was no safe in our room (though you can store valuables in reception's safe). There was no phone in our room (though there was a leaflet telling us how to use it!) There was no air conditioning (in very hot weather and the room was uncomfortably hot). The internet may be "Free" but you have to pay to get the password to use it. All drinks are sold at hotel prices and they refuse point-blank to serve tap water with your meal (though they did offer to provide tap water if we paid for it!!) The dining room staff are efficient and helpful - but they're not friendly. At dinner, you have a choice of two main courses. The starter is always soup (no choice) and you don't have a choice of desserts. Whilst discovering how to turn one of the saunas on, I pushed the alarm button in error, mistaking it for an "on" switch. The alarm sounded for the whole time I was in the area (about 20 minutes) but no-one came to see why the alarm was sounding in all that time - just as well there wasn't an emergency! Would I stay there again? As I'm unlikely to be in the area again, that's a decision that (fortunately) I won't have to make - but if I were to go back to that area, I'd see what else is available before making a final decision.

The hotel was very nice and well kept. We arrived on the train and walked to the hotel. It was a little of an uphill walk but still close enough to the train station to walk. The hotel was very nice and well kept. We arrived on the train and walked to the hotel. It was a little of an uphill walk but still close enough to the train station to walk. Rooms were nice and large. Beds were comfortable. Very clean. The room had a safe. Down side of the room is that they did not have a fan for the hot summer days. No mini bar, coffee maker or refrigerator in the room. Breakfast was basic, not to many options but was still enough to start the day. We didn't get a chance to experience the bar and lounge because it was closed during the times we were around the hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful with tourist information. I recommend this hotel to travelers who will use the hotel as a hub for their travels.
