The Hyatt Regency is located quietly in front of the tiny park, surrounded with convenient stores. Club lounge supplies is fair if compare with Grand Hyatt at Canal City. Sadly, it will close down soon to be rebranded.

I was at the opening and then was coming back for the last 21 years to this, at the time, first western like hotel in Fukuoka, with nice lobby bar and fusion restaurant. The property needs changes but remains a very nice and convenient high grade business hotel in Fukuoka at the back side of Hakata station. I hope new owners or a new managing company will restore the property to its early days perfection and will provide the same as Hyatt good services in the future.

Apart from its brand and interesting architecture by Michael Graves ( he of the post mod style. Think rotundas and pyramids)this Hyatt property is showing its age. Twenty five this year. Still a popular choice for Japanese weddings as it has a stunning chapel and business travellers the property doesn’t have a gym, onsen or even a gift shop. The rooms are spacious by Japanese standards but the amenities need more polish. The furniture is chipped and the air conditioning suboptimal. The breakfast buffet is great though and typically Hyatt. With a good mix of Japanese and western dishes. Location wise it is a good ten min walk from the east gate of the Hakata station and that’s taking the most direct route. If you are planning to drag luggage to the Hakata bus terminus for your airport connection give yourself 20 mins. My room was facing the city and had the full blown morning sun in late autumn and was boiling. I hear they are closing down the property by next year.
