We went to Fukuoka specifically to watch the Sumo Tournament in November. Imperial Palace City Hotel had a great location -- subway station right at the corner, one subway station away to the convention center, grocery and restaurants nearby, close to the head office of Ichiran Ramen. We arrived early and the hotel staff were happy to take our bags until our room was ready. There is a 7-Eleven nearby where we had our tickets printed, and an affordable vending machine-type restaurant with good food at the corner. We came back in the evening after the tournament to an impeccably clean room. It was small but had the feel of a 5-star hotel. The breakfast buffet was simple but had excellent options; there were Japanese dishes and western food. Most of the other guests looked like they were there for business travel.

“Convenient for late night activities”

Our flight was delayed for more than 6 hours and we arrived the hotel at nearly midnight. We were glad that the hotel is conveniently located near the subway station. The check-in process was quick and easy so we can rush to our room, leave the luggage and went out for our dinner. The room is of re… lisää

Our flight was delayed for more than 6 hours and we arrived the hotel at nearly midnight. We were glad that the hotel is conveniently located near the subway station. The check-in process was quick and easy so we can rush to our room, leave the luggage and went out for our dinner. The room is of reasonable size and we have selected a non-smoking room. The hotel is conveniently located not just next to the subway station but it is also sitting right in the middle of loads of restaurants. We went to a named noodle shop and there was still a queue with people waiting to be seated. The breakfast provided by the hotel is also better than standard. There were both western and traditional Japanese type breakfast offered in buffet style. Would like to stay here again in the future.

“Great Location”

Booked this accommodation last minute but this turned out to be a fantastic idea. The accommodation is value for money - granted the rooms are slightly smaller than what was expected but we still had space to manoeuvre around. Booked this accommodation last minute but this turned out to be a fantastic idea. The accommodation is value for money - granted the rooms are slightly smaller than what was expected but we still had space to manoeuvre around. The non-smoking rooms were no different from the smoking rooms but the reception staff were pleasant about deodorising our rooms when this was pointed out. There was a slight language barrier with some members of the staff but others were very helpful in giving us directions or recommendations. A stellar point about this hotel is its location. If you pardon the slightly rowdier crowd until about midnight, there are restaurants abound in walking distance from the hotel, including the 24 hour ichiran ramen store.

“Convenient”

Well located, less than a minute from the subway exit, near food joints and bars, but quiet. Facilities need up dating, but I would stay there again. Station to Fukuoka airport - 9 minutes! Reasonably priced, but Fukuoka tends to be rather expensive, especially at weekends.
