“Excellent hotel at the foot of Mt. Asahidake”

Stunning room in the best location for climbing Mt. Asahidake. In winter it must be even better. The staff were really friendly and helpful, the food varied and really good. The onsen baths were very good as well. I could have easily stayed a week and not gotten bored.

After getting caught in a real downpour at the top of the ropeway, I really appreciated the onsen. The gentlemen at the front desk, who seems to be there 16 hours a day, couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. For a buffet, which I tend not to like, this one was pretty good. There are not a lot of options in Asahidake, but you can be very happy here.

“Comfy, cosy stay in the mountains.”

We stayed here during mid October, just as Autumn was starting to appear. Although we stayed only 1 night, this is a good hotel to visit if you’re looking for something that is surrounded by nature, super quiet and looking to do some hiking. The Hotel: Very large and very resort like. Having looked in some of the other hotels nearby, I can honestly say that this was the best choice. There’s enough space in the hotel so it doesn’t feel crowded and has good amenities. The shop on the ground floor has some interesting stuff and the staff are all super friendly and speak English. The Spa: I used this only once during my visit and it was ok. There’s adequate space for storing belongings and lockers outside if you need it. However, the Men’s area was a little in need of refurbishing in my opinion. The toilet was out of order and the floor, and doors needed some maintenance. There’s two baths, a sauna, steam room and an ice bath. All were nice but looking closely at the facilities, it really needs some deep cleaning and upgrading. The baths were enjoyable nonetheless. The room: Very large indeed and separated into seconds. On entry, there’s a reception rooms for shoes and coats, together with the toilet. Into the next space was a large living room with a sofa and plenty of storage space. Beside the beds at the far room was the bathroom that was more like a wet room than a proper bathroom. Almost like it come from a different hotel and not part of this one! The best part of this hotel is the food. Both dinner and breakfast were feasts to say the least, with a great variety of dishes and cuisines. Alcohol is separate but easily ordered via the tables iPads.

This little spa town is one of the few access points for the national park, and probably with the best day hike. This little spa town is one of the few access points for the national park, and probably with the best day hike. If you want to stay locally, this hotel is perfectly located (beware of onsen hotels near Hagoromo falls - it's been partially abandoned in a post-apocalyptic way). The stylish and comfortable rooms are enormous, and it has a beautiful second floor library/sitting area for weather watching. The actual onsen is a bit average, as is the food (but there are no other dining options). Western breakfast was weak, although dinner choices were broadly fine. In short, it's not the best onsen luxury experience ever, but very practical as a base for the park.
