“Well run central hotel with a stand out onsen.”

My family of 5 had a good experience at Hotel Mahoroba. It is a large hotel that caters to tour groups. We all stayed in one tatami room which was fairly spacious by Japanese standards . My family of 5 had a good experience at Hotel Mahoroba. It is a large hotel that caters to tour groups. We all stayed in one tatami room which was fairly spacious by Japanese standards . Pros - Wide variety of indoor and outdoor onsen pools. There is even a slide for the kids. - centrally located very near the main street, restaurants, bus terminal and Hell Valley in Noboribetsu Onsen. - good breakfast buffet spread. Mass produced but decent. There are 2 dining areas on the 2nd and 3rd floor. Go to the restaurant on the 2nd floor as the 3rd floor caters to large tour groups. - We slept in the tatami room and every day they would pack and lay out our tatamis. - huge souvenir shop which is very comprehensive and priced similarly to the shops outside. Cons - breakfast ends at 930 and we were chased out of the restaurant at 945. This was the first time experiencing anything like that in a hotel. - dinner buffet was quite pricey at 9000 yen per person. - towels not provided in the onsen - they had a kids amusement centre wtih only a few video games and claw machinese. Very sad looking.

Having stayed at a Noboribetsu ryokan last year, we decided on an onsen hotel this round as the accommodation this time was largely meant for an overnight stay purpose after the aquarium visit, so we are looking for a place that has a relatively good online rating and also a more mass market pricing. Eventually, we settled at Mahoroba and being a large scale onsen hotel, it hosted many tour groups but still managed to keep its operations smooth. Its location is good within a short 5 minutes walk from the shopping street. Her onsen has a variety of different types of mineral pool, including sulphur, iron and salt pools. This is probably less common among the Noboribetsu onsen hotels and definitely a strength of the hotel, especially if visitors considers onsen as the deciding factor in their choice of the onsen hotels. The dinner consisted of an extensive spread of food choices including crabs though breakfast could have been better with better varieties.

The bear park attraction is just 5 min away by walking.

“Nice onsen hotel”

We had a lovely room with a private onsen. Very spacious and well appointed. The public onsen at this hotel is spectacular, and we enjoyed it immensely. However, the buffet lets this hotel down. Food is repeated, and it’s not very interesting, and if you don’t like seafood, you are struggling. . N… lisää

We had a lovely room with a private onsen. Very spacious and well appointed. The public onsen at this hotel is spectacular, and we enjoyed it immensely. However, the buffet lets this hotel down. Food is repeated, and it’s not very interesting, and if you don’t like seafood, you are struggling. . Not many sweet selections, and no ice cream. This really lets this hotel down, as Hokkaido is famous for its ice cream and every other hotel buffet caters for it. After dinner you can walk out to the streets and find a delicious soft serve at the Milky Cafe. They have an excellent souvenir shop. All in all, a nice stay albeit the missing ice cream.

“Exceptional onsen but with very dated rooms.”

The highlight of this hotel is the baths. With over 30, they are varied in type. The outdoor ones are beautiful. Make sure you go to the ones on BOTH floors because only one of the floors has the pretty outdoor ones. You can check it on the hotel floorplan of the baths. The buffet is varied with f… lisää

The buffet is varied with food for almost every palate. It's very cafeteria style room and service setting. The rooms are very old and in need of updating. I can't stress this enough.
