“Clean stay, though room decor is dated”

I stayed here for a four day business visit. The breakfast is really quite nice. There is a omelette station. The room (basic single room) was quite small but otherwise functional. Room decor was dated but clean. A reasonable stay. Close to nearby shopping malls by foot.

I stayed here with my wife and daughter for a staycation (we live in Tokyo) for 2 nights. We stayed in a nonsmoking tatami room in the Annex. The hotel is older but nicely maintained on the whole. It has a strong late 1980s-early 1990s Japanese "bubble period" vintage feel and is by no means a modern four star hotel, but it is charming if you are nostalgic for those days and completely functional if you are not. Maybe it is because of COVID but when we stayed there last weekend the hotel was very quiet and not at all crowded. We didn't eat at any of the hotel restaurants because staying here you are spoilt for choice (more on that later) but they looked fine, and not at all crowded. Social distancing was well maintained and the property was clean as a whistle. The nonsmoking tatami room we stayed in was amusing just because it seemed completely incongruous with the hotel itself, which as I mentioned has a kind of 80's Japanese neo-rococo vibe from the 80s. You step into your room and suddenly, you're transported into a Japanese space that would not be out of place in a traditional ryokan. Once you get over the culture shock the room is very spacious and has excellent wifi. It is also divided into three spaces, a large sleeping area, a small western sitting room, and a small Japanese sitting room. For the price (around $160/night) we paid it was a ton of space for a Japanese hotel, so we were very pleased in terms of the value for money it presented. A family of 4-5 could easily stay here without feeling claustrophobic, which is more than I can say for many rooms costing twice as much. One thing to note is that the hotel is very close to the train station, and so you can hear the trains going in and out. It wasn't loud enough to bother us and in any event they stop running around midnight, but if you are highly sensitive to noise it is something to keep in mind. The location is simply excellent for families - you are right next to the Mitsui Outlet Mall which offers (decentish for Japan) discount shopping and perhaps more importantly for tourists, good dining options. Including various other nearby retail complexes there are absolutely a ton of restaurants at your doorstep and there is a very pretty park adjacent to the hotel. A bus can take you to the Makuhari Shintoshin Aeon Mall, which is a simply massive shopping mall that is worth checking out simply as the apogee of Japanese suburban family life culture circa 2020. To be clear I am not claiming the hotel itself is a luxurious, resort-like experience, it is quiet, the service is diffident and the property clearly has seen better days. However it is excellent value for the money and in a great location for exploring Makuhari and Chiba City, and so for what it is I recommend it highly.

“Comfortable”

We chose hotel Springs because of the location close to Makuhari Messe which was a 10 minute walk. The rooms were comfortable but a little outdated. We chose hotel Springs because of the location close to Makuhari Messe which was a 10 minute walk. The rooms were comfortable but a little outdated. Breakfast was good and the Chinese restaurant on the 2nd floor was also nice. There are also a lot of nice restaurants within a few minutes walking distance! It was a good stay for us overall during the Foodex. Will defintely return.
