“Elegant Luxury Property in Kyoto”

When I booked this property, I did not know what to make of the French/Japanese blend portrayed on their website. But the website does not do this property justice. The building is somewhat non-descript, but when you enter a beautiful grand entry staircase greets you, and this elegant, boutique style hotel perfectly captures the entire vibe of what a stay in Kyoto should feel like. The French/Japanese decor is hard to explain, but it is beautiful and it totally works. ROOMS: Our room was surprisingly large - comfortable king bed. At the foot of the bed there is a seating area with a couch, coffee table, and 2 chairs. There was a beautiful armoire which opened up into a bar - stocked with many complimentary treats and drinks. Bathroom was large and really well stocked with many toiletries, even moisturizing face masks which my wife loved. There is a surprising amount of closet space, both in the room and the bathroom. RESTAURANT: Breakfast was served on the top floor and provided a stunning view of the hills with one whole wall being comprised of a panoramic window. Breakfast started with fresh juice, coffee/tea, and a selection of croissants/rolls which rivaled what we have had in Paris. The menu then offers a variety of breakfast entrees including eggs, salmon, chicken - all beautifully prepared and presented. The bar on the same floor was outstanding with a great selection of Japanese Whiskeys, LOCATION: For us, the location was perfect for Kyoto. We spent time every day in the crowded, more touristy areas of Gion and Nishiki Market - this property is very walkable to those places (about 15 minutes) but the location is much more relaxed and quiet. SERVICE: The staff enthusiastically greeted us each day. There were a few times I called down for ice but the person who answered did not speak English - in each case an English speaking staff called back right away within a minute. Our luggage was shipped from Tokyo and arrived before we did, the staff had the luggage waiting in our room when we checked in. The staff also arranged for our airport transport to KIX.

“Magical Kyoto Hotel”

Our stay at Fauchon Hotel Kyoto was truly extraordinary. Having stayed in many beautiful hotels around the world, it takes something very special to stand out—but this hotel absolutely did. From the moment we arrived, we were surrounded by elegance and thoughtful design. The decor throughout the hotel is simply stunning—refined, stylish, and uniquely beautiful. The colors, textures, and lighting create an atmosphere that feels both luxurious and welcoming. Even the details in the rooms, including the gorgeous window shades and the way the light filters through them, make the space feel calm, sophisticated, and perfectly designed. Every corner of the hotel feels curated with care and artistic vision. What made our stay unforgettable, however, was the incredible hospitality led by Mr. Daisuke, the manager. He went above and beyond every single day to ensure our stay was joyful and seamless. His warmth, knowledge of Kyoto, and genuine care for guests were remarkable. Whether offering wonderful local recommendations or simply checking in to make sure everything was perfect, he consistently made us feel valued and cared for. We were also fortunate to experience the kindness and professionalism of an outstanding team. A heartfelt thank you to Takahiro (manager), Mai, SV, Norika, Toma, Kyosuke, and Megumi, who all contributed to making our stay so pleasant. Their attention to detail and sincere hospitality never went unnoticed. The culinary experience at the hotel was equally unforgettable. Breakfast and dinner felt less like meals and more like works of art. The presentation, creativity, and flavors were exceptional. A very special thank you to Chef Keichiro, Seike, Aito, and Sakurai, along with the entire kitchen team, whose talent and dedication shine through every dish. And of course, this is Fauchon—so the pastries and teas are absolutely spectacular. Each pastry is beautifully crafted and delicious, and the tea selection is outstanding. Enjoying these treats in such a beautiful setting was one of the highlights of our stay. We also want to thank the wonderful front desk and bell desk team—Koshiro, Fuku, Momo, and Kana—who greeted us every day with warm smiles and genuine joy. Their friendliness made returning to the hotel each evening feel like coming home. What truly makes this hotel special is the people. The level of care, pride, and hospitality shown by every member of the team created an experience we will never forget. In addition to all of this, location is superb. Kyoto is already magical, but staying here made it even more memorable. We leave with deep gratitude and wonderful memories, and we look forward to returning again.
