Booked The Blossom as I had a morning train to catch on the day of check-out, and the hotel is right next to the JR Kumamoto Station. Another reason was knowing it is a hotel from the JR group gave me some assurance. I arrived from Aso Kumamoto Airport and the bus stop for the limousine bus was across the road from the hotel. You also have the option of catching the free shuttle van from the airport and changing to a JR train, arriving at the JR station. That said, if you plan to explore Kumamoto City for a few days, you may wish to consider hotels closer to Sakuramachi, as the main city area (castle, department store, restaurants) is a good 15-20 minutes tram ride from the JR station and the trams aren't that frequent. I booked the Deluxe Twin Room NAGOMI room. It gave you a feel of Japanese style with its tatami area, which in our case was converted to another bed area. My room was on the 10th floor which didn't give much of a window view, blocked by the roof of Amu Plaza. You would be glad to know that they provided free coffee drip bags in the room, as I would find out later in my trip that OMO5 did not provide free coffee in the room. There was also a Nespresso machine near the public bath area. Conveniently located above Amu Plaza and the station, you can imagine the food options available (I didn't book breakfast as there were bakeries nearby) as well as the souvenir shops at the station. Wish I had bought more stuff. All in all, it was a nice, clean and functional hotel, but a bit far from the attractions.

Regrettably, a once-beautiful hotel has been compromised by a group driven solely by financial gain.

The Hotel is located very central. It is clean and for the most you felt welcome. The guy at the Bar/Restaurant at night were useless. The Hotel is located very central. It is clean and for the most you felt welcome. The guy at the Bar/Restaurant at night were useless. He was hampered by his inability to communicate, and I felt he didn’t want me around maybe due to me European. He told me bar was reserved, but only 2 girls were sitting there. They moved out to sit at the counter and seemed to be his friends. Room was nice, reception staff nice. Breakfast was not to my liking and there were one of the mornings not any filter coffee it was empty and they didn’t bother to fill it. Dinner one night was fine, despite problems with the guy mentioned on top of this review claiming it was full, it was not. I might never travel to Kumamoto again, but if I did I would find another place, as I was very offended by the way the Bar/Restaurant guy treated me.
