This is perhaps the best onsen hotel I have been to. The reception staff was greatly welcoming and explained everything you need to know about your stay. The lobby atmosphere is one of the best I have experienced. Quiet and calm with lots of cleaned area. The room I selected is Japanese style, in which this establishment executed superbly. The number of smaller rooms inside my room surprised me. There was a room for the toilet and another room for the bathtub. Also, they offered a chair for you to sit in front of the sink. That's unusual but great. And the bedding on the floor was comfy enough for a good night's sleep. But perhaps the best feature of this hotel is the onsen section, which is situated on the fourth floor. Everything inside the onsen was perfect. The temperature of the onsen bath, the choice of an outside onsen area, the cold-water pool and the sauna with classical music playing softly. Wow! This is a place I would definitely return to one day!

The price is a bit expensive, but the onsen of the room was very nice, the room very comfortable and the breakfast very good. Yufuin is a very nice place to visit and the food is very tasty. Surrounded by nature and with some very cute and nice shops

Stayed here twice, nice enough rooms, staff so helpful. About a ten minute walk from the train station. In town lots of places to eat but trying to find a drink was a bit of a mare......until we found number 5, basically walk towards the station from the hotel then take a right up the Main Street. … lisää

Looks like a grocers but they serve cold beer and food.

“Very expensive - disappointing hotel”

We booked 2x Japanese rooms for 3 nights, over the rugby period. We booked 2x Japanese rooms for 3 nights, over the rugby period. Obviously all hotels were charging a premium, but having booked 12 months in advance, at a cost of virtually £2,000 (excluding breakfast and dinner), I expected the hotel to be pretty good. The staff were very pleasant, but the communication was a problem - appreciate that this is our fault as much as theirs! The rooms were very shabby in our opinion, the furniture was badly marked and it didn't seem very clean. The worst problem was the smell in one of the rooms though, the staff told us it was from the tatami matting, but it clearly wasn't, as the other room had the same floorcovering and didn't smell. We ended up thinking it was the drains - but it was very unpleasant. The bathroom was pretty basic, and not well maintained - dirty grout around the tub etc. We stayed at 5 other hotels in Japan, and generally the standard was as expected - this was the only disappointment when considering cost vs. quality. The futons were more comfortable that I had expected - I slept really well.
