Hotel Granvia Okayama

“Great poition, great room.”

The hotel is convenient for the main railway station. The staff are friendly and professional. The breakfast was fine. The room was comfortable and spotless.

This hotel was booked primarily for its access to the Okayama train station, and for that it is excellent. It's also reasonably close to the Okayama tourist attractions like the castle and the garden, and public transit bus access to further-away tourist attractions is quite good. The room was booked through the JR website (hotel website) for four nights. The JR website gives some good rates, especially for a four-night stay, if you can manage to navigate through the multitude of options they offer. I booked what they called a Superior Single room on their website, with breakfast included. The room was not large (17 m2), but it was spotlessly clean, had a nice reading chair and good workdesk, and some storage. For one person it was fine. For two people it would be cramped. The twin and double rooms are much larger (32 m2), but they also cost about 70% to 80% more, so they are probably not worth the extra cost for one person. The room was very quiet. They do apparently offer something called the 'economy single', which is 15m2. The extra 2m2 in the Superior single is worth the extra money compared to an economy single. The highlight was the breakfast, which was excellent. If you are a breakfast person, and the price differential is not too great, it is worth getting. The price differential for the included-breakfast/non-breakfast price seems to be much greater on booking sites than on the official JR site. Overall it was a good stay.

“Good location, another tiny room”

Stayed for just 1 night as part of a group tour. We had an included dinner which was pretty good. Rooms were very small and no bed side table. Bathroom in dire need of a refurb

“Needs a facelift”

Nice Hotel, very good service and friendly staff. The hotel an old, this mainly felt in the showers that are not modern, and in the furniture in the rooms which it is about time to renew. Breakfast is rich and good.
