“Mixed experience ”

We were not expecting much from this hotel. We cycled here from Kyoto. When we checked in, we asked where to park our bicycles. We were not expecting much from this hotel. We cycled here from Kyoto. When we checked in, we asked where to park our bicycles. The lady told us there was no place to park bit to use the public place across the road. We locked our bikes there. When we went back a few hours later tires on both bikes had been punctured! We complained to the hotel and the new lady told us to please leave our bikes with their rental bikes! She was very nice. Why didn't the first one give us that option. Also, they only have one onsen and ladies can only bathe from 8:30-10:30 at night and from 8:30-10 in the morning. If you are going as a couple it is difficult to make sure you can both have a bath.

What I should say... I have double feelings about this place. Positive moments are: 1. Nice staff (but depends on shift). What I should say... I have double feelings about this place. Positive moments are: 1. Nice staff (but depends on shift). Front desk is nice and polite, ready to help with any issue - staying in hotel or logistic or whatever (but, as I’ve noticed later, not everyone, depends on switch). 2. Invisible service staff. I mean they do everything that they should do, but you can’t see them. And nobody knocks your door or call a phone in 10am asking to free a room for cleaning. (Omg I’m still under negative impressions about Hakodate staying) 3. Good location, close to the most important Osaka’s sights. So, let’s say practically nice, i.e. nice from practical side. Esthetically, there are loud street and huge pier in front of hotel. )) 4. Supermarket “LIFE” is in 5 min walking (there are 2 floors there). To reach it, use exit number 3 or 9 at Awaza subway station. 5. Nice (really nice and quite large) public bath on B1 floor. Double bath with hot water and separate bath with comfort water. Bath is common, so please be noticed about men’s/women’s hours to prevent “kyaaa” moments. Joke for sure. Life is a bit different to animation. 6. Normal for japanese typical hotel room and nice 1.5-size bed. 7. Powerful AC system. And big. So big, that even most silent mode gives quite strong air stream that goes directly on a bed. Good or not, please decide it by yourself, but I had to switch it off before going to bed and during the night, wake up because of hot and switch in on again for 5 min to fresh a room. Not the best option to have a good rest. Hmm... “non-positive” moments are: 1. WC. I always saying, that WC is critically important for me (this is the one of the reasons I like Japan) But this WC is... Strange. No... STRANGE. For years I travel in Japan, I see such a layout at first time. Toilet space and shower space is small and... the same(!). I mean, shower itself and “white stone” are close to each other and in a same space! All that separates shower space from toilet space is shorty curtain and small level on the floor. It means, for example, that if a drain hole in the floor will be stuck, water will fill whole WC. So, the order is important. First - toilet. After shower. Else you will sit on/in wet “stone”/WC. Or... you can combine these two procedures. 2. Weak door lock. C’mon, a lock on my nightstand looks more reliable and safe, than door lock here. I cannot bring my laptop and tablet everyday (it’s more than 3kg in my bag!), and asking to keep it on front desk everyday is really silly and abusing. 3. Britain type sink with water mixers, i.e. no mixers! Two water taps - separate for cold water and separate for hot water. So, to wash your hands you have to choose - freeze it or boil it. The only way to use warm water (who didn’t met Britain type before) is to close a drain hole, fill a sink (bowl) with cold and hot water and mix it inside. And after wash you hands, face, tooth using it. It’s not a problem for those who are familiar because of traditions. But I used to use flow water. So, this point is deep imho, for sure. 4. Sink is behind the lavatory. So,.. it is not really comfortable to use it... 5. Small and tiny towel. One for hands one for body. Small and tiny. 6. Old room equipment. Devil is in details. But these details - old scratched doors, furnitures, old dust on a cables and in a corners, mold on door joints, spray rates all makes the total image of beginning disrepair. So, general review is a... hotel, where are nice location and staff (depends on shift) particularly compensate equipment’s, comfort’s and safety’s lacks. I saw a lot and can’t say good or nice, because I was so disappointed with a strange WC and weak door locks. Let’s say, I’ve met much better places for the same price. Could I recommend it to you or will I stay here again? Hmm. Rather yes, than no, BUT(!) only, if there are absolutely no any other choice for the same price. Imho, for sure. And once again, public bath is really nice and thanks for a nice staff (only one shift).

“Small and shaky”

We landed straight after a hectic and long flight, Osaka was our first destination in Japan, we were 2 adults and 2 kids, for us the room was very cramped(Just like all hotels in Japan). you hardly had place to stand. Once you kept your suitcase, you had to be on the Bed. Being on the high floor we felt shaky all day. If your trip is for tourism not the right area. Better pick some place close to the main lines. plus point- It does have a station close by. (JR Line applicable) kaiyu line not applicable. Wi Fi was good Breakfast for a vegetarian was only Bread toast, the chef took some time and did prepare a boiled veggies for us, which was appreciated- but not as per our taste. They have a microwave on a common floor. which helped us a lot. One veg restaurant close by. Grocery store was close by. Not a luxury stay, ok for a budget but due to the location may not prefer.
