“Best resort in terms of rooms and food”

My hubby and I were traveling to different hot spring resort in Japan. This definitely is one of the best we have been to. We travelled on our wedding anniversary and got arranged to one of the best suite named 大室 which is spacious and just renovated 2 yrs ago! Even though the resort is 61 years old you feel very new. They equipped with dyson hair dryer and the high tech toilet. The snacks and drinks in fridge are free at room! Dinner is amazing , food is so great! We will come back!

visited here in early april 2019,. family of 4, kids age 13 and 11. we were very very happy with the peaceful and relaxing 2 nights here. loved the private onsen. The Izu area overall was very pretty. We stopped off between visiting Kyoto and Tokyo. We chose a nice big room for the 4 of us and had kaiseki dinner in our room the first night, which was totally amazing, even though the kids were not keen on everything served from the sea. The room view was astonishingly relaxing and pretty, over the ocean, slept to the sound of waves and woke to the sun rising over the ocean horizon. (sunrise seems to be when japanese guests use the onsen, .... we chose late afternoon on two days and had not trouble reserving) Our dinner server and overall assigned hostess was terrific, very friendly and helpful. Probably we deserved a little more guidance on protocol but the whole hotel was so pleasant and overlooked wherever we didn't keep to local custom. Staff English was decent, certainly enough to be helpful and extremely gracious. Clientele seemed mostly Japanese... we were here on thursday and friday and leaving saturday morning it appeared to be getting more crowded with weekend visitors. we were here in high season I think, during cherry blossom season, and probably paid up a bit for the room, so slight splurge, but also very high level of service and accommodation. I'm calling it mid-range because it's not super high end, more of a traditional family run place, but within that context it is high quality.

“Doesn't get more Japanese than this!”

Had a lovely Japanese experience here. Luckliy we were here with 2 Japanese friends or we may have struggled with the language. Basically everything is supplied - even the clothing to wear so it was quite a novel experience to walk outside in my Japanese robe whilst shiffling in my supplied shoes… lisää

Basically everything is supplied - even the clothing to wear so it was quite a novel experience to walk outside in my Japanese robe whilst shiffling in my supplied shoes. We had food in the room with our friends and it was like a banquet - food was wonderful. The private onsen was also lovely for the two of us- there are public onsens available but my husband and I couldn't pluck up the nerve to do this!! It's very relaxing and a lovely experience.
