The service here is better than a 3 Michelin Star restaurant. I’m not joking and yes I have been to 3 Star Michelin restaurants. They care so much that you are happy it’s incredible and it’s not fake like servers who are getting paid at a nice resort or restaurant. This is their heart. The onsen’s are unparalleled to anything I live in Colorado and I don’t know if I can even go back to a US hotspring now. They are all so dirty and gross. The ones in Oregon are good but crowded and ppl piss in them. The onsens here are perfect temperature. And they have so many varieties. You can feel the healing powers of the minerals in the water. It’s insane. Also the rooms and amenities are par none. They are so good and they have cold beer and sake and shochu on demand! The kimonos are awesome! The sandals are so nice! Man I am never leaving! I love this place with all my heart. Oh yea the food is insane it’s so good I had no clue it would be anything like this. It’s absolutely unbelievable. Best food I’ve had so far... I mean I am a chef and I am in awe out how much detail went into these meals and it’s not even expensive. This place might just be a dream I got uploaded from the memory bank. Even if that’s true I am happy!

Our stay at Fujiyoshi Onsen was the most memorable experience we had in Japan and we will definitely go again and recommend it to others. The care that Ms Miwako provided has left a fond memory that we vividly recall even 6 months after our stay. She has an ability to anticipate our every need before we even ask and demonstrates what "Omotenashi" means in a way that english words cannot describe. The estate oozes authenticity and tranquillity. Our room was spacious with views to the ocean and the mountains. There was a long balcony to take in the sunrise and the bathroom has its own spring fed Onsen tub. I must make a special mention to the Futon bed which for reasons I still cannot explain, felt like sleeping on a cloud covered in a warm marshmallow. The open air yet private onsen pools was the reason why we chose this estate over all others after extensive research. The natural mineral rich spring water has a luxurious silky softness. Interestingly the quality of the water meant our skin did not wrinkle despite soaking in the Onsen for over an hour at a time. The Kaiseke dining was a grand affair with locally sourced top tier ingredients coupled with skillful preparation. The braised, rich and gelatinous Tuna head was one of many exotic courses and proved to be the #1 dish I had in my 2 week stay in Japan. Lastly for those who appreciate automobiles, you will be driven in a rare Toyota Century Limousine which I believe is the only Toyota ever made with a V12 engine. Thank you to Ms Miwako and Fujiyoshi Onsen for the great memories! # Travel Tip Closest Train Station is Futo. If you get there early, Ms Miwako can take your luggage and drop you off for a bit of walk near Kadowaki. It's an added treat to dip into the warm Onsen after a brisk walk to relax your muscles!

I enjoyed Fujiyoshi Izuten so much! It is such a beautiful place with great views. Booked by emailing them, Ms. Miwako Ishiyama who was very helpful with the meal plans, allergy requirements, room availability. Went in December which was really cold. Not too pleasant to be traipsing around the large property to onsen hop. Bring a jacket with you! Most of the areas are not enclosed. They have various onsen for you to try with various view points. Dinner was fantastic, variety of sashimi, alfonsino and large spread of food. Good to sit down and enjoy your dinner! Breakfast was another grand affair. Sashimi and sushi for breakfast! Thought that only happened in Hokkaido. Even in my previous trips to Izu (1 week long) they hardly served such a sumptuous seafood breakfast. Value for money, hence the price for this property is higher. Go for the deluxe meal plan if you can. You won't regret it. I can't remember if they have issues for communication in English, as we could speak Japanese. I do remember seeing another group speaking English with them though. We got the Bousou room which was quite spacious but a little wasted with 3 pax. There was a half rotenburo in our room but we didn't use it. Rooms are a little cold, but they do have heaters placed strategically along the path in our villa when you go to the toilet. This place has great sunrise views. Wake up early and explore the property. You can go for your bath early in the morning with no one to bother you. Service was great, ambience was great, onsen was great, views were great. What's there not to like about this place? To top things off, I actually left my backpack behind. They tried calling my mobile, however as it was an overseas number, they could not reach me. They emailed me within an hr to tell me so, however I only noticed it 3-4 hours later. It was a good thing we were still in Izu and turned back to get it.

We lived in Japan four years and this was our absolute favorite getaway! Miwako and the staff always made us feel at home. We loved the private onsens, the beautiful ocean and mountain view from the rooms, and the amazing local Japanese meals. We would usually combine our stays with hikes along the rugged Jogasaki coast nearby and a train ride down to Shimoda where we would rent bikes to ride along the coast. We highly recommend this ryokan for anyone who would like to have a truly Japanese experience.
