“Lovely renovated hotel”

Lovely hotel which has been renovated to a high standard. Compared to other hotels we stayed at in Japan, the rooms were enormous. So much space to unwind and look out at the views! Lovely hotel which has been renovated to a high standard. Compared to other hotels we stayed at in Japan, the rooms were enormous. So much space to unwind and look out at the views! The swimming pool and hot bath were a welcome addition. Very friendly staff and the breakfast was fantastic - even had Special K! Shirahama is quiet resort town, we found some good eateries: a Korean restaurant, the Krishna Indian and the Blue Bar.

Beautiful hotel, fully renovated, located on a hill overlooking Shirahama Beach, a 5-10 minutes walk down a steep slope. Compared to my previous stays at nearby hotels, I find this property in between the top luxury Infinito Resort and the more laid back Seamore Hotel. The overall vibe at the Marriot is more of a business hotel, with two full floors dedicated to events and corporate meetings. Rooms are spacious, Western and Japanese style. Nice onsen on the penthouse and pool at the back of the hotel, with an area dedicated to kids, always well maintained by the Staff. Pool hours are 9am-5pm and open only in July and August. The hotel has a lot of opportunities to improve the common areas. For example, after the pool closes at 5pm, there is no outdoor space or bar for the guests to relax or enjoy a drink like at the nearby Seamore Hotel. There is a terrace on the 4th floor with amazing views of the sunset, but at the time of my visit was closed and not used. Also, the hotel lobby does not feel upscale since the furniture was reconfigured to create an area reserved to Platinum and Ambassador members which takes most of the lobby seating. By mistake I sat there and I got kicked out. A big thank you to the Staff which was great and always ready to service the Guests!

We recently stayed at this Marriott in Shirahama and it is just a few blocks from the beach. The beach itself is very long and wide and has beautiful white sand. We recently stayed at this Marriott in Shirahama and it is just a few blocks from the beach. The beach itself is very long and wide and has beautiful white sand. The lobby of the hotel is nicely decorated with seating and a separate lounge area. The staff at check in are very welcoming. We stayed in a Tatami room with a king bed and mat's and bedding for 4 Tatami style if needed. It was a nice touch of both east and west hotel decor. The bathroom is very small and the shower/tub area is very interesting and could use a remodel. Overall the room was a little dated but was clean and comfortable. The top floor offers Onsen style baths that are separated for men and women as well as the option to book your own private room with hot mineral bath. While we did not use the Onsen they did look very nice and well maintained. The hotel also has a good size pool located out back on the main level. Breakfast at this hotel is $4500 yen per person but that is pretty much the going rate in Japan if you want breakfast included. As there are not many breakfast options close by, eating at the hotel is the easy but expensive option. The buffet offered both American style and Japanese style breakfast options and the selection of both was quite large, and the food was good. Overall, a good choice if you want to stay near the beach in Shirahama.
