I have stayed at numerous places over the years, from luxury hotels in Vegas to seedy rooms above a bar, and the Evergreen is honestly the first motel where I felt like I was coming home. It may have a few years on it, but our room was absolutely clean, homey, and welcoming. The TV was on and playing restful music when we entered, there are real (and healthy!) plants around the room, and thoughtful touches everywhere - including a long shoe-horn and an emergency umbrella! The flat screen TV was big enough to watch without dominating the room, which might be a significant part of the charm. There was a fridge, full size stove and oven, dishes and pots and pans, and enough basic utensils to prep a simple meal if you wish... and Mother Webb's is not far away if you don't. The bed had an older mattress, but it was obviously high quality, still comfy, and the area is quiet and dark, so we slept very well. Each room has its own mini-split heat pump, so we stayed cool without the racket of the old-school through-the-wall air conditioning units still found in most older motels. Checking in was the fastest I have experienced anywhere. They had a package ready with my key and an info sheet, they told me about breakfast and laundry facilities, and we were done - elapsed time maybe three minutes, although none of it felt less than welcoming. Breakfast... well, if you are looking for bacon and eggs or waffles, this is the wrong place. But those scones that they brag about are on point, their oatmeal is wonderful, and there are more toppings than I have ever seen (did you know coconut sugar is a thing?) Probably the best example of a continental breakfast I have encountered, and all in a small efficient space with, admittedly, limited seating, but they provide trays so you can take your selection back to your room if you wish, or use one of the outdoor tables and watch the birds. This really is a lovely spot to spend the night. There is no doubt that, should we return, we will stay here again.

“Outstanding B& B”

Fabulous B&B, the owners go the extra mile compared with other similar properties. Lovely room with view of countryside. Extra touches such as robes, slippers provided. “Do Not Overlook This Place”

Everything about this single level motel was a very pleasant experience. A big improvement over the larger brands that are so popular. About a 3 min drive from downtown Antigonish or St. FX U. So well equipped, so very clean, so warm and cozy, so inviting, easy access and trouble-free check-in-out.… lisää

Everything about this single level motel was a very pleasant experience. A big improvement over the larger brands that are so popular. About a 3 min drive from downtown Antigonish or St. FX U. So well equipped, so very clean, so warm and cozy, so inviting, easy access and trouble-free check-in-out. Comfortable bed, and nothing missing! Kitchen facilities with dishes and utensils, all bathroom amenities including a lint-brush and iron and board. Even plush terrycloth robes supplied in the bathroom. If it was possible to give a 10 rating, from our perspective, the Antigonish Evergreen would get it and we've done our fair share of hotel rooms. Will we return ....... definitely when given the opportunity and I highly suggest you try it out!

My husband and I were delighted that we happened to discover the Evergreen Inn when looking for a place to overnight in Antigonish. It’s located just slightly outside of the main part of town, in a quiet area with a beautiful view of the surrounding hills. Their website describes it as “a small boutique inn” and it’s exactly that! The attention to detail both inside and out was fantastic – they think of everything! We stayed in a standard queen room and it was bright, very clean, with all the comforts of home (small refrigerator, microwave, glassware, cutlery). The bathroom was surprisingly spacious and the addition of two bathrobes and slippers was a nice touch! We even took advantage and used their laundry facilities at the end of the inn which was perfect as we were mid-way through our roadtrip (you'll need change which you can get from the owner). The check in/out process was super easy and they have a cute little breakfast area which was well stocked with an assortment of continental breakfast items and had great coffee. We highly recommend the Evergreen Inn and will definitely stop by again if we are ever in the area!
