Summary: EXCELLENT 5 out of 5 stars. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. After long days of touring, the Sonata Inn really did feel like home at the end of the day. EXCELLENT host, location, room, breakfast and value. We have pre-booked to stay there again next August. Details: Stayed 8 nights with a friend and used it as our homebase for travel throughout PEI. The Inn: beautiful older house on quiet Grafton St. You have a choice of using the stairs or a nice long ramp for rolling your luggage to the front entrance. The front porch has two comfy chairs and a little bistro table if you feel like sitting outside for a bit. You are greeted by host Chris in a very lovely reception area and Chris takes your luggage to your room for you. You are immediately impressed with the cleanliness of the in and how bright it is, with lots of natural light streaming in we especially enjoyed the brightness in the breakfast dining area. There is also a quaint sitting room filled with lovely plants. A nice space for reading and conversation. Other amenities: throughout the day, there is a room for making your own coffee or tea. There is also fridge complete with bottled water and cans of pop for purchase. Rooms: comfortable beds, windows that can be opened, wall mounted AC unit, desk and chair, flatscreen TV, mini fridge, dresser, large closet with folding doors and Cubby holes for storage. Full bathroom with tub and shower. Towels were changed daily and because we were staying several nights, , Chris asked us how often we would like our bedding changed. Breakfast: self-serve buffet of sausage, bacon, hash browns, scrambled eggs, chilled hard boiled eggs, mixed greens, yogurt, choice of cereals, oranges, apples, bananas, juices, bread and bagels, coffee and tea. And, as a special treat, there are 2 yummy dessert options every morning freshly made by Chris’ wife Lee. Microwave is there if you’d like to reheat anything. Excellent location: short walk to the Confederation Centre, shops, restaurants, boardwalk, Victoria Park. If you decide to explore more of Charlottetown , you can catch a bus at a nearby T3 Tramsit bus stop at corner of Grafton St & Pownal St.

“Good tips during our stay. Perfectly located.”

A very nice, well-run B&B. Good communication with the staff, even before arrival, good tips during the stay, about places to visit. The room was really large and comfortable. A good selection for breakfast. Free parking in the courtyard. Very good location for the city and the sea. Highly recommen… lisää

“Not quite what we expected and hoped for….”

When we checked in we didn’t receive the room that we were expecting. It was only discovered much later but by then someone else had checked into the room we were supposed to have. When we checked in we didn’t receive the room that we were expecting. It was only discovered much later but by then someone else had checked into the room we were supposed to have. We did receive a small refund for the difference which was good. The gentleman that we dealt with was easy to get along with. We would have rather had the room we initially booked and paid for. We didn’t know that it was a 3-story walk up (probably our fault as we didn’t see that on the information) and of course we were on the top floor. It was difficult to drag a suitcase up 34 stairs. It seems that this was possibly a boarding house many years ago. The carpets whilst vacuumed needed cleaning. Room #12, all the walls were on a steep angle. It was difficult to get to the A/C without the risk of banging your head as well as going to the washroom during the night. There were no blackout blinds in our room. The breakfast which was included was fabulous…no complaints there at all. The information on how close the walk was to the boardwalk was off quite a bit. There is guest laundry which was only $1 per wash and per dry and they provided the laundry detergent.

“Stay in Charlestown”

It is a nice looking building from the outside but the facilities are average, thus the 3 rating. Beds were not comfortable. On at least two electrical wall plugs the top plugs were not functional and were loose. Staff are friendly, breakfast was good, parking was very good, and location to dow… lisää
