We stayed at The Crossing Resort at Sasketchawan River Crossing because of the convenient location, which allowed the driving of the Icefields Parkway over two days. The spectacular scenery around the resort was as expected, but we were pleasantly surprised by the resort itself. Reception staff were efficient and helpful, coming to help us when we had problem opening the door to the room. The rooms are adjoining log cabins, but we heard nothing of our neighbours. Decoration is basic and a bit dated, but fits well with the environment and isolation of the resort. There was plenty of hot water and the room was warm. Towels and toiletries were adequate. Everywhere was clean. The welcome in the pub and restaurant were warm. It was a few days before the season ended, so there was no buffet available and a limited menu, but our meal was still tasty and gave vegetarian choices. The cafe opens at 8 for breakfast so we bought snacks at the resort store for our picnic breakfast on up the road. There is plenty of parking and easy access off the Icefields Parkway within the National Park. Gas station on site. Launderette worked well. Price is reasonable for the quality of accommodation in such an isolated place.

They state: we offer what is needed and no more. And that is exactly what they do. “A nice place in the (very beautiful) middle of nowhere”

Since this is the only hotel in the area (literally the middle of nowhere), we lowered our expectations to almost zero (after reading many very negative reviews). Since this is the only hotel in the area (literally the middle of nowhere), we lowered our expectations to almost zero (after reading many very negative reviews). That helped, because it turned out to be better than expected. The rooms are small and somewhat outdated, but acceptable. Everything here is way overpriced. When we stayed here, fuel for the car was over 2 CAD per liter, while it was 1.49 CAD everywhere else in the region. In my opinion, this hotel is acceptable, say, for one night, but not for spending your vacation. Of course, it is located in a beautiful area!
