I very much enjoyed our stay. I was a little unsure when we first arrived as the decor of the rooms were dated and older. All that was disregarded when I looked out the patio doors to the water views. We were able to step out from our patio and take a few steps to the beach. The views and sunsets are amazing. Beds were quite comfortable as well. Giving a 5 * rating because it was comfortable, staff were great and I loved the location and views. With a few small upgrades and changes to the room to update them, it would easily be a 5*+++++ review. If we ever return to this area, I will stay here again.

I chose Pavillon sur mer because of the fact that you had a small patio where you could hang out and watch the beautiful St-Lawrence river or watch it from inside through the patio door. Here are the pros and cons of this establishment: PROS: *Beautiful views with the patio *Rooms have just been refurbished and everything is spotless inside the room *All the amenities that the Riotel offers next door: restaurant, pools, etc at a lower price than the Riotel. *Strict policies concerning smoking *Service from an impeccable staff CONS: *After a couple of hours there, I understood why there was a strict policy on cigarettes and cannabis. In under 2 hours, there were 2 young men not caring about the policies and openly smoking weed next to my room. *The hotel was full and almost everyone there was respectful of other people except one who did everything to ruin everyone's stay from building a fire with an axe, he was also one of the weed smokers, yelling constantly at his girlfriend, belching loudly non stop and more! I called front desk twice because he was building a fire and then leaving it unattended. When an employee came, he became belligerent and even threatened people by saying he would take revenge on us with his axe!!! He was very aggressive at times and yelling about lots of things. I found the staff to be dutiful about dealing with him but he ruined a part of my peaceful stay. Had it not been for him, the stay would have been perfect from beginning to end. All in all, I would go back tomorrow to his hotel but I would go back during a less busy time of year where you can switch to the main building if you have a crazy guest next doors like I did. I spent most of my time reading on the patio on just looking at the water. It is one of the most beautiful places I have traveled to!

“Great hotel with a beautiful view”

Great hotel in the center of Matane. The Roitel next door has gym, restaurant and pool facilities you are allowed to use. The view to St Lawrence river is stunning. Check in was easy and the staff very friendly.

Stayed one night en route to N,B, Normally our first choice is the Hilton Garden Inn or a similar chain. This hotel did not meet that standard but was acceptable for the price. The room was clean and the bed comfortable but the two chairs had rips at the seams. The bathroom was clean but an extremely noisy fan which was controlled by the light switch only. Other rooms had the same problem because we could hear the noise from the room beside us. Also the counter was damaged and there were no hooks on the wall or the back of the door for towels. There were holes in the wall where a heater had been moved but the holes not filled.There was a private balcony with a nice view and this hotel is located right on the beach. Our room was on the second floor, number 619 without an elevator. That wasn't a problem for us.
