“Nice Hotel”

Was hard to find but once we found it, it was very comfortable. Room was spacious and very comfortable, was clean when we got there. Loads of parking very handy to the entrance. Would recommend staying here.

The Shawinigan Cité de l'énergie is a nice place to visit. Unfortunately, there is a lack of decent hotels in. Shawinigan! The Shawinigan Cité de l'énergie is a nice place to visit. Unfortunately, there is a lack of decent hotels in. Shawinigan! Apart form the old and in need of renovation Comfort Inn, there is little to no option! The Hôtel Énergie is a bit better than the Comfort Inn, the rooms are more modern, bit the bathroom is ridiculously small, no soap dispenser, only a tiny bar (unlike most hotels in Europe)!, and the pillows are hard, like the Comfort Inn, the old AC is noisy. The swimming pool is tiny and just Ok. The attached restaurant, Pacini, is decent food but expensive, but there are many restaurants and bars within a walking distance. To sum it up, like Trois-Rivières (bigger city 30mns away), Shawinigan is in great need of newer and more affordable hotels. Because of the weekend, I paid $276 for a night at Comfort Inn with breakfast and $212 for Hôtel Énergie with no breakfast included. For less than that price you can be in a much nicer Hyatt Place in places like Moncton with good breakfast with turkey sausages option, plenty of food and a nicer pool etc....

“Just okay - wouldn't stay again”

The people working here were helpful and kind. Check-in was quick and easy, as was check-out. We were unhappy with our room - it was un-renovated and smelled like mildew - we requested an upgrade and were kindly moved to a renovated room which was better, but the bathroom still smelled of mildew. The people working here were helpful and kind. Check-in was quick and easy, as was check-out. We were unhappy with our room - it was un-renovated and smelled like mildew - we requested an upgrade and were kindly moved to a renovated room which was better, but the bathroom still smelled of mildew. The gym is really old and could use some new equipment. There is plenty of parking but, like the hotel, it needs work, and you need to be careful: there was a piece of metal sticking up from a manhole that would pop any tire that goes over it. The first night we were there it seemed really quiet, but the next night someone was in the room next to us, and we could hear more than we wanted to. The attached restaurant is like the hotel: just okay but staffed with nice, friendly people.
