this hotel red and gold all over inside especially in gold, the beds and the door knobs and the chandeliers are in gold . their are many carved out like you would get in a palace, its beautiful artwork and décor. rooms very clean and spacious as well as the bathroom has powerful showers. the staff is very polite although there is bit of a problem with speaking English especially room service and restaurant staff, breakfast not good but generally we had eaten out of the hotel . lovely food else where. shopping mall not very far from the hotel, as well as a Mc Donald. There is park and kids playground area with games just across the road from the hotel. our stay was very nice apart from the breakfast .hotel is reasonably priced and very comfortable. the Parzhou exhibition cntre was quite close to hotel but shopping areas was a bit further away like markets etc. we noticed that this hotels also has lot of weddings and parties and conferences .

The Decor in this hotel has to be seen to be believed, It is a unrestrained Chinese attempt to create a Venetian Palace in Guangzhou. The Decor in this hotel has to be seen to be believed, It is a unrestrained Chinese attempt to create a Venetian Palace in Guangzhou. Everything that can be carved and painted gold has been,as well as a few things that you think couldn't or shouldn't be. The Lobby in particular is like a movie set from a Golden era blockbuster, with a chandelier that defies description. All that aside, the rooms are large, clean , reasonably well equipped and comfortable. The 8 nozzle shower is powerful and spacious, the widescreen TV is brand new, even if does only have 3 English language channels, it has good air-con,a safe, a kettle and a huge firm bed I found very comfortable. There are also a few quirky items, with the switch for the light in the shower being beside the entrance door, and the wardrobe being a cupboard above the fridge and safe, consequently not being deep enough to hang clothes properly. The lack of Internet in the room is also a hassle, especially as it is only available at the infrequently open, 2 computer business centre on the ground floor, at a cost of 20 yuan for 15 mins. That being said, if you can live with the opulence, especially the frescoed figures staring at you as you eat your buffet breakfast, this is a comfortable hotel at a reasonable price. The location means it is a 25 yuan taxi ride from either Parzhu Exhibition centre, Guangzhou East Railway or or the excellent Grand Mall shopping centre.

“Rats !!”

To be honest I probably over did it staying at the hotel , everytime I go to Guangzhou I'd stay here!! The first 2 visits were exciting thinking wow Royal decoration, gold here gold there, all good !! Very catchy! To be honest I probably over did it staying at the hotel , everytime I go to Guangzhou I'd stay here!! The first 2 visits were exciting thinking wow Royal decoration, gold here gold there, all good !! Very catchy! But then on our last visit we experienced the worst, it's a big hotel , don't get me wrong nice and and all but I think it needs updating and more stuff to cope with all those rooms! At first I slept with my makeup on , after the canton fair I was so tired and couldn't be asked to remove it, next day when the cleaners came to clean they left a note about a dirty pillowcase , i was really shocked because my impression of it all was linen if dirty gets changed !! Next 2 days we saw a rat in the room hiding behind the big curtains ! Nightmare !! We called the reception they told us that someone will sort it out in the morning and that they were fully booked to move us ! Next day we were told they got rid of the rat while we were at the canton fair !! Guess what we see at night running across the room ? A rat!! That meant they didn't get rid of the rat all! Their excuse was our room is near the kitchen or something like that ! They offered us another room , and gave us a fruit bowl as a token of apology but the next room smelt so damp ! A mixture of dampness and cigarette! I could go on .., but let me leave it here..I'm not sure if this hotel is still operating but if so I hope they are making improvements because they have a potential , but until then I've told myself I will not go back there again !
