The Sheraton in Guilin enjoys an excellent central location, making it easy to explore the city, walk along the river, and access restaurants and attractions. Its position is one of its greatest advantages. The rooms are modern, clean, and well maintained. The design is simple but pleasant, offering a comfortable and relaxing environment. The housekeeping staff do a great job of keeping everything spotless. Breakfast is another strong point of the hotel. The variety and quality are excellent, with both Western and Asian dishes prepared to a high standard. It is a great way to start the day before exploring the region’s beautiful landscapes. Overall, this is a solid, well-run hotel offering comfort, convenience, and good quality services

“Aging Property in Good Location”

This place is old and in need of updates. The East Building, at least the executive floor we were on, was actually newer than we expected and appeared to have had some renovations at some point. The location is excellent, across from the river and walking distance to the major sites in Guilin. The front desk is friendly and efficient, and did recognize Marriott status and provide appropriate benefits. That being said, the executive lounge was understaffed, crowded and poorly organized. They ran out of evening food repeatedly every night we were there, ran out of plates, ran out of wine, ran out of glasses. If you asked for something either it would take forever or they would just never bring it. I requested some vegetarian food (which these days should always be provided without asking) and both times they told me they would have the kitchen prepare me something but it never came. They seemed clueless and overstretched. Half the food dishes were empty at any given time. Really just unacceptable. Afternoon tea was poor. Breakfast had some tasty items and was well staffed but very crowded starting early, with wall to wall people and barely room to pass. I guess the hotel caters to bus groups and the traffic at certain times was intense. Very unrelaxing. Every day at some point we could smell cigarette smoke pouring into our room through the HVAC system. Obviously there are smokers in the hotel and it is recirculated throughout. The dated atrium design makes for extremely noisy rooms. There was a wedding when we were there and we could hear it like it was in our room. When it finally ended, the staff made a huge racket pushing tables and chairs across the floor to clean up, with no sensitivity to the noise and hour. All in all, an aging hotel that was probably nice a few decades ago but needs updates and better staffing.

This hotel was advertised as 5 star, but we would disagree based upon several factors based upon 2 previous 5 star hotels in China. It's a 3 at best. This hotel was advertised as 5 star, but we would disagree based upon several factors based upon 2 previous 5 star hotels in China. It's a 3 at best. The hallways and rooms are very outdated, with noise from the hallways as well as the outside areas. The room has no drawers, robes or closets.There was only one bedside table. The bathroom was adequate, but using just the nightlight disturbed sleep as it was so bright. The bathroom layout was consistent with a lesser hotel, with poor lighting. The breakfast service was pretty disappointing. There were way too many people and not enough staff. The food was meh. It certainly did not earn a 5 star in our opinion. We would not book this hotel had we seen the rooms.

“Great But Sorry Experience”

I stayed in Room No.1431 for a week in June 2025. It is an old-but-great hotel with approximately an hour drive from the international airport. Located on the bank of Li River and its excellent connectivity to all the amenities in the city center, the hotel is suitable for both leisure and business. Indeed, it is the choice-hotel for most of the travellers including the President of United States. The Zhengyang Walking Street which is just a 5-minutes stroll from the hotel, is a must-visit place where you can go for bargain-shopping and the delicious local food. I am impressed by Ms.Yuri Huang and Ms.Louise Huang whom are both from the Hotel Reception, displayed the beyond-excellence standard of customer service. The staff at the restaurant for Buffet Breakfast, should be given a thumbs-up for their services delivery. All these human capital are the assets of the hotel. However, there is a black sheep among the great employees of the hotel. I was waiting for my transport at the hotel lounge one afternoon, where a lady was seemingly sick which was caused by heat-wave and almost-fell-asleep. A senior lady hotel staff walked by and raised her voice and yelled at the hotel guest "Hotel Lobby is a public area, not for you to sleep". This rude action by the hotel staff is uncalled for, and what she should have done was to find out the well-being of the hotel guest instead of shouting. It was really disgusting that this drama happened in a renowned hotel which is the star of the city. Overall, I strongly recommend this hotel to any travellers to Guilin City, putting aside the horrible senior lady hotel employee who tainted my great experience with the hotel.
